I just purchased a DC 4/2/1 S/S header ($329 shipped) and a Type- R exhaust $250 shipped (used) for my 2001 GSR....

I will be installing both once the packages arrive; 2 questions though....

How difficult is the install? Do you use your heat shield?

you don't have to use the heat shield and the exhaust consists of a few pain in the *** hangers( to me anyway)and three spring bolts at the cat and the rear section(three spring bolts), i think....the exhaust route didn't change from the earlier models did it?.....anyways, it shouldn't be too hard, just some hand tools and some jack stands.........I personally love the TYPE R exhaust.....it's huge but i love the way it sounds...........

 

How does it sound? I never even hear mine.

 

it should be just a simple remove the old setup and put in the new one. not simple if you have to deal with stubborn bolts tho, but yor car is fairly new.
