Suspension
How many of you have messed with the settings on your suspension (setting SAG, fork tuning, etc)? I'm sure most of the track guys have..But i'm just curious to see how many overall have? I havent attended a track day, but I still feel the need to dial in my suspension so I can improve my overall riding skills. I feel like I'm not getting the most of my bike with the settings off the showroom floor.
<-- Race Tech front springs (1.0kg/mm rate)... less than $100!
That's my only modification. It made a HUGE difference, especially because the stock spring rates on my bike aren't designed for large people. I haven't adjusted the compression settings up front, but I will at my next trackday. I dialed up the rear preload to almost max.
The best modification/adjustment you can do with your bike is to get the suspension set up correctly.

Adjusting your suspension is something that gets overlooked a lot because its thought of to be so complicated but it really isnt. There are tons of sties only that give great tutorials. I had a buddy come over and teach me how to setup my bike even before I hit the track. Depending on how your bike came out of the box and how much you weigh, the difference can be was very noticible. If you're a big guy you might want to think about respringing your forks. My 600rr has pretty soft springs stock so I replaced em pretty early. That was probably the best bang for the buck suspension mod I did.

Most 6's are set pretty soft and sluggish out of the factory. But you're not very heavy so I guess you can leave it alone. Just set your sag 1" and play with your preload, rebound, and compression damping a bit and see how you like it. It's usually clockwise is harder and counterclockwise is softer. Be sure to count the clicks from factory setting to full lock and count the visible threads on your preload and write them down somewhere. That way, if you completely screw things up, you can always go back to factory specs. The rear might need shims tho.

I try to kepp my weight at 155 to 160 and my suspension out of the showroom is a lil stiff but it feel really good. But i too do not know much about how to truly set up suspension on street bikes. Im use to the dirt if you bottom then stiffen it up if it kicks mess with the rebound. But i know from reading the desired weight for super bikes is 150-160.
I think my suspension is set up good and stiff. Like when i go over a big man hole or rail road track it bucks. When i start to lean into the corner hard the nose dives but doesnt bottom and tracks all through the turn like its supposed to. Other then that i cant really tell how else to set up the suspension and to be honest i have not researched it at all i just love doing 150 and hitting the twisties MMMUUUAHAHAHA!!

I haven't done the front springs (YET) but the back i have set so that it compresses 32mm with me and my gear. and my bound on the rear is up all the way "i wish it could go more" stock suspension sucks! changing the spring rate made a world of difference
