Humming/whining noise !! is it the bearing? what is it?? Help
i hear this humming/whining sound from the passenger side like a wheel bearing is out. only happens at like 25 mph and up, i dont hear it when the clutch is pushed in, and i cant hear it on the expressway. maybe b/c its to high pitch? But heres the thing, on bumps the noise will flow with the bumps. I checked and nothing that i ca see is rubbing. I dont know what the problem is. ive had people listen to it, and nobody is sure.
It started making the noise when i put in a new itr tranny with 28k miles and replaced a shot axle for another, but im not sure how much better that axle was... the car shifts and drives fine. its just that noise...i dont have $ now to spend on a bunch of things that may be the problem. So, if anyone has had this problem and know how to fix it, please help me out and tell me how. thanks.

I have No noise when its idling or just sitting there. there is no noise when im driving under like 20mph... after that there is a slight whining noise that get louder and quieter at times. when im going about 40 and i put in in 4th or 5th its the loudest. when i push the clutch in i can hear it very faintly also if i throw it in neutral. no noise when im shifting and the tranny drives fine. Not only is is unbeleivably annoying, I dont know if its gona mess anything up. Also I hardly got any money to fix this problem, So id rather really know what it is before i start replacing and pulling things out. thanks for your help in advance

I would bet its the axle, if it wines when you put a load on it. Get a new one and go from there. Its only around 60-70 bucks for another.

i got the same problem mostly under 20mph and in 2nd gear while deccelerating
Mine was whining like that too, kinda like a supercharger noise right?
I had an ITR LSD put in my gsr tranny and it wasnt shimed right so thats why
it was making that noise. Maybe the tranny you put in had this problem to start with. Mine was loud tho, you could hear it from a mile away if i was going fast.
Mostly did it in second and on, little bit in first but not as much.
Hope that helps, sucks if you have to pull the tranny out and re-shim the LSD.
Good luck
