Default Another attempted break-in of my ITR - luckily unsuccessful!

For the second time in six months someone has tried to break in to my ITR with a screwdriver!

The first time they managed to stuff the passenger door lock and handle which had to be replaced and broke the drivers lock and managed to unlock the door. The alarm went off, they drove off, came back a minute later but were scared off when they saw someone approaching. This was all seen by a witness who called the police. It was obvious they were after my recaros and I was I was lucky they weren't professionals. It cost me about A$300 to replace a door handle and both locks.

Second time around (Tuesday), parked in the same place, they have broken both locks and tried to lever one of the handles damaging it and the door (touch up paint will fix it) but nothing else.

As I open my car with a remote blipper, I was thinking of blanking off my keyhole so no one is tempted to stick a screwdriver in there. Has anyone out there tried this? I know that it only takes a brick to get in but it would be a deterent. Also for those with Recaros, does anyone have special locking nuts that make it difficult for thieves to remove them?

Here. in a land full of hot WRXs, ITRs are not the first choice for joyriders. Instead they get broken in for the Recaros, Momo steering wheel and titanium ****.

I don't think they are after your recaros, watch out. If they have the time to unscroll both seats from your car, they have more than enough time to steal your car.

The rear outside handles from a 4 door teg will fit on the front doors and they don't have keyholes. You can try that, but good luck getting them to match the paint, just make sure to take it to a good shop.

Putting the rear sedan handles on the front sounds awesome! BUT...what about the rear of the car with the trunk keyhole opening?

Or you could remove it and put one of thouse flat headed bolts that they use on benches. And hope your battery does not die. You could also just weld the hatch shut... that would be tizzite. Weld the door shut too and put the window feature on you alarm and get in the car Duke style.

Point is, if they want it bad enought, they are going to get it. No mater what.

I hadn't thought of that - pity they don't sell 4 door Integras in Oz though!

Having replaced a door handle I know Honda sell the plastic handles in body colour. Maybe I could get some rear door handles in Milano Red Stateside!
