Default Another question on a Honda Hatchback 1.5L upgrade

I was wondering how much more horsepower would I get, without doing an engine swap, just add a new air intake, headers and sport exhaust, and possibly a chip? I'm not looking to race ...just trying to get a little more bang for my buck.

Best bang for the buck is swapping to mpfi. The 1.5L does not respond to bolt ons very well. Swap to mpfi and then add i/h/e and a chip.

adding a chip wont really do anything oter than make you run rich.i would do the mpfi swap and then spend the rest on suspension upgrades, then build a low budget turbo setup.

Hey man im in your same position. I dont have much cash but wanted a lil more power. Im doin the MPFI swap right now. So far ive spent about $100 on it, and all i still need to get is the distributor, resistor box, and pm6 ecu. So pretty cheap for some small power. PM me if you need any help getting started.

Edit: Forgot your trial user, cant PM yet, email me if you need help getting started, cslax88@rochester.rr.com

You will notice the most out of the MPFI swap...

Other than that, I personally wouldn't waste the money on a i/h/e rather for the cost of a decent header, intake and exhaust you coudl put togethre an ok HMT setup. (you can flat rate **** and get by wtth it at about 400bucks for a turbo kit.

That'll give you your best bang for buck imo.

otherwise, You can do a mini me onto the 1.5L block w/ a z6 or y8 head and gain a little more power if you dont want to go the FI way...

i did all the 1.5 hop ups. first converted to mpfi. then mini me. with the mini me, a header, intake , everything else stock i ran a 16.1 in my porky 4 door. if your trying to go fast trust me and swap to a 1.6. its worth the extra power.
