Hf black box map sesor, replace with si for b16? (can't search for Hf tried)
ive tried not to ask stupid questions lately but i just can't find my answer. i have a first gen b16 in a 91 Hf. i can't figure out the vacuum lines because of all of the things in the black box (diagrams i find are for si). can i take the WHOLE black box down and replace it with a 91 si map/purge? will everything plug in and run right?
Thanks
Thanks
Bump b/c I have a b motor and i remove the cover and remove the egr solenoid but i dont know if thats the problem for my idling. I got a 89 hf so i know other ppl on h-t have hf. So I dont think that help out. Sorry
I used my Si MAP sensor in my 91 DX. It's all plug and play, just unscrew, and unhook, and hook up and rescrew the new one.
There's a user on here I think he's still SlowpokeSi... his swap site has a vacuum route diagram on it. He's got the link in his sig.

i just did one of these swaps. yes all you need is the map and the evap purge. i gutted the rest of the crap out of the box. the other stuff has to do with the egr system on the hf's. a map sensor is a map sensor, they are the same.

So you remove the egr system and does the car run fine?

OK just use everything from the hf. You'll see all teh exra Vaccuum lines and all the emmission garabge. You only need the Map, the Purge Selenoid, and the Cutoff.
1.) Should be two lines coming from the Charcoal Canister. The one "ontop" goes to the purge cutoff, "on top" So top hole to top hole from C.C ---> P.C.O
2.)The bottom Valve on the C.C goes to the Valve right above the T.B. It should look like a red braided hoseline. Bam that's done...
3.) From the dashpod on the Manifold, the line feeds to the intake nipple(the hole or nipple on your intake tube)
4.Out of the bottom of the MAP you need to have a T fitting and Plug one side. On the other side run a line to the other nipple opening next to the braided line coming from the C.C
5.)on the Purge selenoid there should be one opening left. Ok off the back of the IM there should be a tiny nipple. Right next to the fuel rail should be another PCV looking thing with a vaccuum source out of the top with a bend facing the firewall(see it?). Buy a Y fitting and run a line from that nipple on the back of the IM to the Y, and have the PCV lookign thing run it's line to the Y as well
6.) hook up newly fitted Y piece to bottom of the Purge cut-off selenoid.
Should work. If you want to get it BAR keep the stupid CVC valve and teh air. And any Haynes manual can tell you how to put it back together.
hope it helped....took me a long time to figure the stupid drawings on the internet.....good luck...

I have everything hooked up properly on my HF. It's not difficult. Just follow the diagrams found on the internet. If you need help, take some pictures of your vacuum lines and where they come out of and I will show you where they go into.
