i was thinking cause of the longer 3ed gear??? I dunno just alot of people recomended getting the L/S tranny when you have a drag3 setup on a b16a. any ideas? thanks
that's what a lot of guys reccomend when you have a lot of horsepower and big slicks are still not cutting it(ex:still going into 5th gear at the end of 1320)

Shorter gears are better for the 1/4 mile but theres a limit to as short as you can go.. Basically you want as short of gears possible that will top your 4th gear out without going into 5th in the 1/4.. But at the same time you are sacrificing top end.. LS gears will make your car run to 95-100 in 3rd and 120-125 in 4th on stock wheels.. combine that with some 24" slicks and youll hit like 135 in 4th.. So bascially until you can pull 130 in the 1/4 u dont need the LS tranny.. get the drift but if you like to highway race and want moire top end LS tranny would be bad ***
but the thing is u may stay in a gear for longer but it takes longer to get up to that point in the first place

when you are making 300lbs of torque, getting through LS gears is no problem at all
but then again, we are not talking about a car making 300lbs of torque..

tue it wont be a problem... but u will still get through the shorter gears quicker and easier... its a fact
Nobody ever listens to me, but I have always said the LS transmisison thing was all hype.

I don't know where people got the idea that an ls tranny is better than a gsr for turbo. A while ago alot of people around here started switching to the ls tranny because "you stay in boost longer." A couple people spread that bullsh*t around and now everyone thinks the ls tranny is better. This topic has been beaten to death by now. Do a search for more info.

Well i'm glad i got a gs-r tranny with my swap instead of an ls.The guy at the shop was trying to sell me an ls because i was going turbo he said it would be better.
Yeah, a moron on ClubSi (that sure narrows it down) tried to tell me that the LS tranny "compliments the turbo spool better". And used the ubiquitous "stay in boost longer" line. Sure, you are in boost longer because you are accelerating slower!

sounds good guys thats for helping me out and making my decision. Oh I tried the surch and not as much luck as this pluss im busy gotta serve the country ya know. can you belive im getting payed to shoot an m16a2 today!
My .02 an LS transmission is good on a Boosted LS motor, and a super double whack B16/GS-R, but just your typical boost B16/GS-R will be fine with it's stock tranny. I HAD a JDM S1(ITR gearing) on my boosted LS.....man that sucked with those short-azz gears. On an LS redline having ITR gears is like taking an LS transmission and removing 5th, but still have 5 gears.....make since? In essence the trans was over all 20% shorter in top-end.....sucked topping out 5th at 115 MPH @ 6800.....

but i bet you got to 115 damn quick.
longer gear= worse acceleration higher top speed
anything in between
shorter gear= better acceleration lower top speed

i agree with speed phreak, an ls transmission belongs with an ls motor, regardless of boost, and a b16 transmission belongs with a b16 motor, and a gsr tranny belongs with a gsr motor, the best transmission for the motor is the one that comes with it, honda made them that way for a reason.........
