Buying Bike problem!
Hey, I got myself a problem, and I hope you guys can help. I'm planning to buy my 1st bike within the next few weeks. I have yet to ride on any motorcycle since I got my license about 1.5 years ago, so my skills are really rusty.
The thing is that, I don't know the best way for me to bring my bike back home. I can try riding it, but I'm 5'3" and it is going to be pretty challenging for me to try to lean on one leg at every stop, especially since it is my first time. (btw, I'm plannin' to get an R6 or a '01 '02 F4i, so I gotta lean). I was plannig to bring like, three other cars with me so they can guide me along the way back, but I dont feel comfortable 'bout this.
I also thought of towing, but I was calling and asking around, and towing would most likely be $140+, which is hefty. One of my friends advised me to see if I can find anyone or friend who can ride, to bring it back for me, but.... I got none that rides.
What would be the best way for me to bring it back? How did you guys manage to bring your first bike back from the dealership or from a private seller? And no, I don't want to settle for any other bike, 'cause these two are sexy as hell! Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What a lot of new riders do is they just get an experienced buddy to ride the bike home for them and also to check out the bike and make sure its in good condition. Check you're local forum, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out if you dont have any friends that ride.
Well, I rode mine over 300 miles back, so let me be the one to tell you, if's a really bad idea to try anything more than 30 miles on the way back.
I've had a lot of offroad experience and had a "service" car with me, so I knew I could do it, but let me tell you, I was one unhappy ****** when I finally pulled into it's new parking spot.
The "back of a truck" would be the cheapest way, but you have to be careful getting it in and out.

its simple...
if the bike runs, drive it back...if its wrecked push it into the back of a pickup on a 2x4 or a ramp or something.
if you can't ride the bike from the shop to however far to your house, when do you plan on riding it?? ever??

I rode my bike back form the dealer without a license, or much experience.
I had ridden a scooter for about a year, but I was scared.
I ended up making it home without incident. Just ride it back. Leaning at lights isn't that hard.

Dude if you not at all confident in your riding abilities then please dont ride home. I know i and im sure other guys dont want to read about you going down on the freeway Bro. If a Buddy cant ride it for you, Find someone with a pick up, if worse comes to worse then have it towed. MAybe you should do a MSF before the pick up. Or borrow a buddies bike and refresh your basic skills before you hit the road. Whatever you decide Safety is key we dont wanna see you all wadded up on the road Bro fo-real. Be Safe.
Thx a lot for the suggestions. And 1.5 liter, thx for the offer. I'll definitely keep that in mind when I buy the bike. After hearing this, it makes me think twice about riding back home w/ my experience. Thx you guys!

IF you can not get someone else to help you, I will get it home for you. I have over 25 years riding experience and I am local... but you have to ask yourself(and maybe you already have, I'm not reading this whole post) should you be getting a bike with your experience? Anyway if you really are in a bind and need some one IM me

Thanks for the offer MSchu. As for the experience thing, I have no doubt that I'll be able to ride my bike successfully. I know I can ride it, its just that taking it back home via freeway and whatnot for the first time in 1.5 years is like biting off more than I can chew. I plan to gradually get better by practicing around my neighborhood 'n surrounding streets and get the hang of my bike before I leap out 'n try the freeway and whatnot. Thanks!
