Anyone have any suggested products safe to clean the valve cover? Where I wrapped my headers it smoked at first like it said it would but it has made the front of my valve cover black-ish..... What is safe to use for cleaning that won't harm...?

Diluted or pure? Diluted im sure...

spray it on undiluted and wait a few minutes, then spray it off with a garden hose.
You may have to rub with a towel and or make a second attempt if it is more soiled.
I use the simple green and garden hose method almost every time I wash my car, and just cover the distributor and brake and clutch reservoirs when I rinse off. I also wipe everything down afterwards.

When I had the oem one and it got a little dirty I tried simple green and it still wouldnt come clean. Im not sure what happend so instead I got a spoon one. The smooth surface is easier to clean.

LoL....you know i found that Brake dust cleaner is extremely effective in ridding of grim and dirt thats a bitch to get off! Its not cheap...and i dont recommend drentching your valve cover in it...but it certainly cleans up well. Have a cloth rag handy as it evaporates rather quickly

simple green works well if you have a spray bottle and a high pressure hose.
Here is a trick I do.
I warm the car up nice, while its running spray the desired areas with simple green in which you want to clean. Then wait a few seconds and spray with simple green again over the spots that were dirty, notice that the old spots where you sprayed first are super clean, then hose off entire area (with car running still) and boom clean as the day you bought it and dries real fast. (since the car is warm)

Were you using a wire brush? That would definatly take it off.

honda non-chlorinated brake cleaner. and no, it won't strip the paint. cleans up valve covers awesome. just make sure it's the non-flammable, non-chlorinated stuff. there are like 3 different types of honda brake cleaner.
