skunk2 valve springs....can you install them upside down????

skunk2 valve springs....can you install them upside down????
i've got a set that came with a head i purchased recently. can you install them incorrectly??? i found that in. and ex. are the same but when i looked at them they were identical at the base/top ?????any help is appreciated...thanks
