Default GSR w/p28 chip....

i have a GSR w/ skunk2 manifold and using a mugen chipped p28... it runs really strong, all the way to 8000rpm, but the thing is that when u run past 7200rpm it has a scent of the fuel being cut off... why is that, the chip was set 9000rpm... i also tried the jun chip, same smell... with the p72, everything runs clean, but has a cel for iab... need alittle help here... THANKS

i'm confused. what exact computer do you have? if you have the stock P72 computer, you're always going to have that CEL for the butterflies. what you need is a P28 computer, and then tune it w/ chip + VAFC or just VAFC or something. of course, FPR is needed no matter what, but that kinda goes w/o saying.

it sounds like you have not upgraded your injectors...

i have both... stock p72 and a chipped p28... i know that the p28 would be a better pick to run the motor. u can really feel the differences... the thing is that, with the p28, though it's chip to redline at 9000 rpm it gives a scent of fuel being cut off so i don't know what's up with that...

ditto! I'm assuming you dont have a built motor...just bolt ons and the single stage manifold. The reason why the mugen program feels "so good" is that the low end has no power until you get into vtec. Thats when you'll see the big spike in a/f maps and power ban. The other reason behind this is because its dumping a CRAP load of fuel. Also, I'm running a skunk2 IM on my gsr and when I use my stock p72, I dont get any cels. If you dont mind paying a bunch of money for gas, then by all means, run that program. What I recommend is to get an fpr or a vafc or even uberdata and tune it correctly so your motor runs efficiently. Shoot me a pm... we can chit chat about your set up

well said. if it smells like gas, you need tuning, bad.
