Sorry if this is too off-topic, but like the title says, I'm selling my ITR and have a potential buyer for it. However, he would like to use an online escrow service called http://www.securevehicle.us to pay for it. Apparently, he sends them the money for my car, they notify me that they have the funds, he can come and check out the car for a determined time period (car is now technically paid for so I don't necessarily have to worry about joy rides), if he decides he wants it I notify securevehicle.us and they wire the funds to my bank account and we complete the sale. Does not sound like too bad of a deal, but I have never heard of securevehicle.us and can't find any information about it other than what is on their webpage.

Have any of you guys heard of this service? Also for those of you with time on your hands, if you could check out the site and let me know what you think (bogus or not) I would appreciate it. It looks legit to me, but so many car scams out there I'm paranoid.

 

If the buyer can come down to look, why not just bring cash or check?

One other thing, when you go register or login, they don't use SSL(Security Socket Layer) the little lock on the bottom of the web browser... website don't use SSL meaning it's not secure under any circumstances when you passing personal and credit card information.

So be very careful, and triple check make sure they are a valid company of what they do.

 

That was my question too, and he said he felt safer this way That is the main reason I'm skeptical.

I noticed the same thing. I haven't called the phone number yet but in case it is a scam, I didn't think calling the number would be all that helpful anyway. I'm feeling more uneasy about this...

Sounds too sketchy to me. I don't like the thought of money transfer escrow stuff.... If he's so worried about it, tell him to have his bank wire the money from his account to your bank account. All he needs is your name and routing number, which is a general number used by all banks all over the world so there is nothing that can be stollen from you. It is very safe. I have used this method several times to pay for parts over seas.

If this guy is coming to pick up the car, what's the harm in paying cash? Definately DO NOT accept any type of check or money order of any kind!!! Also another option is if the guy comes to pick up the car and he's too paranoid about carrying a ton of cash, you both can go to one of his bank branches and they can cut you a bank check right there.

Yeah, I saw that post too. I had no intention of taking anything but a bank check (had to clear my bank first) or cash for payment until this offer came along. I think I will stick to my game plan...

 

I would say a US postal Money order is going to be fine as long as your two can make it to the post office before the end of the day.... A safer way of carring money. and it costs under a $1.00 to get.

Also, why is the administrative contact in Miami Florida...From my business experience...and i hate to say it...You have to be extra careful when it comes to doing business with those in Florida...Many criminals operate out of there.

I would only take that after the bank has verified it. There are many fake checks around these days.

 

they wire you the cash
and then 2 weeks later the bank seizes the funds from you because it was from a bounced check.

1) hotmail email
2) only been up 2 months
3) lots of poorly written unsecured code
4) youre a definate lamer original poster for even considering it.
