Driving impression - 92 Lude SI
Although I puchased the car a week ago, it took a while for check to clear. I finally picked up the car today and went out for a test drive which lasted for about 2 hours/150 miles all together.
I currently own stage 2 WRX with about 290hp at the crank. Although it produces good power on boost, car feels rather sluggish when off boost (3100lbs car on 2.0L engine). In comparison, Lude never felt sluggish in any gear and had more than enough torque to get me around town without having to push on gas or downshift. It is quite true that engine stops producing power after about 5-5.5k rpm, but I never plan on pushing car beyond 6k rpm anyway.
In terms of handling, I didn't feel anything impressive about it in the stock form. Maybe my next mod should be lowered springs and AGX's.
Overall, I was quite impressed with 160hp engine, which has over 150k miles. Car felt so solid and secure that it felt more like brand new vehicle. Hope this car lasts another 100k miles without any major problem!
In terms of power producing mods, my next mod on the list is AEM CAI or quiet catback exhaust (Apexi worldsport).

That's what I was thinking. Maybe he was just complimenting the smoothness of the Honda clutch/transmission, and exaggerated a little bit.

I couldn't agree more. At that point, you can tell that the motor is just buzzing.

Not sure how bad your shocks are but I was, still am, VERY impressed with the handling, even when I had my stock 168K mile suspension. I am making my review after driving it on the track 6-7 times.

Without boost, WRX just feels like heavy 3100lbs 2.0L compact car. For normal driving, my lude feels more lively and easier to drive around. Once boost kicks in, it's a different story.
Just my 2 cents...

Expect that '92Si to last you AT LEAST another 100k miles, just keep changing that oil. Don't overheat the engine, and only use Honda power steering fluids. Flush and refill the system-the racks on those Preludes seems particularly sensitive to me, but maybe that's because they assist so incredibly well in comparison to small cars? I'm not a Subaru/Honda owner, but I can be considered an Isuzu/Honda owner (even though I no longer own a Prelude). Own a '91 Isuzu Impulse AWD turbo, a '92 Impulse XS, and a '92 Geo Storm GSi (another Isuzu).
And all these turbo cars feel sluggish without boost. That's the nature of turbo engines, until the turbo kicks in.
