My friend's 2000 Civic key is stuck in the ignition and it won't come off.
The key is stuck and its not the origianl key. Its the copy key and its stuck in there.
Also when i turn it half way, it says its in Drive mode which i think is why i can't take out the key. But then i can also move the transmission back and forth to drive and park. But when i turn the key half way it still says its in Drive mode and it turns off.

Do i have to disassmble the steering wheel and its hatch to get the key out?

 

had this happen, tried taking off the steering wheel and all and it still wouldnt come out so i got pissed and hit the key and then i pulled it out. dont know if thats the best solution but if you want you might want to try it.

 

First try holding the shifter forward hard as you try to take the key out.

 

I did the hard way. Don't know what i did but its off and working fine. Going to bring it to the shop and see if any damage was done. Thanks again

 

You can't take the key out because the button on the automatic shift **** is stuck...
