d15 in a 88 crx si already searched
i know, i know it sounds bad but this is my last option. my friend has this 90 crx dx (totaled) with a little over 100,000 miles on it that doesn't use a drop of oil. i, on the other hand, have a 88 crx si with the stock d16a6 in it that uses about, id say, a quart of oil a week (bad rings). its on its last leg. it starts hard, and when it does start it sounds like its running on 3, mabey, 2 cylinders! im working on a boosted b18 project but that will not be finished for a while.
my questions are
1. is the d15 going to work providing that i use my intake mani, to retain multi point
2. can i use the multi point intake mani on a dual point motor
3. will the fact that the d15 is orginaly from a car that is automatic affect putting a manual tranny on it(im asuming just ditch flex plate and replace with fly wheel)
that should be it, any other warnings/suggestions would be appreciated

You will be perfectly fine.
Just change the flywheel and intake manfiold and everything else will be perfectly fine.
I acutally had a d15b2 that was orignally in my friends 1989 crx dx auto, then i swapped it into my 1988 civic dx (5spd) (and i did the multi point swap at that time), and then it went into my 88 crx dx 5spd w/ a z6 head....
then i picked up a z6 block and now it sits

You'll be perfectly fine if you change the intake manifold and flywheel/tranny.
To the best of my knowledge, you *should* be able to drop the D15B2 (DX engine) into your Si without issues. Use your Si intake system, exhaust, transmission, clutch, flywheel, and distributor and ECU, and you shouldn't have to change a thing as far as wiring goes. People do the MPFI swap on DXs all the time, which is using the Si distributor and intake system on the DX block, and it works. What you're proposing isn't much different - except that instead of doing the MPFI swap on a DX engine, you're dropping a DX engine into an MPFI car; all the changes you'd need to make are already made.
And don't feel too bad about what you're giving up to get your car going again. Basically, all you're giving up is 0.1 liter of displacement. And that's not the thing that makes an Si feel so much livelier than a DX; it's the *other* Si goodies that make the bigger difference - the more aggressive final drive ratio on the transmission and the MPFI intake setup.
When you pull the Si engine out of your car, it might be easiest to pull the entire engine and transmission at the same time. DON'T THROW ANYTHING AWAY! Look around for info on an MPFI swap to make sure there aren't any odd hoses or anything that you need to replace (if there are, they should come off the Si engine you've already got), keep the wiring intact, and get that clean-running DX engine into your car. It will thank you.

Always keep the harness with the car...
changing a harness isn't hard at all. (e.g. a dx to mpfi is easy as ****)....

actually, my cousin did the exact same thing, assuming you switch the intake man. and flywheel, it'll drop right in. however, performance wise, it would be a good idea to switch the exhaust and the camshaft too. then you probably won't even notice the difference performance wise from the d16a6, his car with a couple bolt ons is faster than my stock si motor with 190k.
if your car has that much ring wear, it will perform BETTER. however, clean the stuff when its apart.

I had a d15b6 temporary motor that would burn 3 quarts of oil PER tank of gas...
yeah lets just say that **** got thrown out very fast....about 3 tanks of gas is all it lasted in my car (after the first tank of gas i relized what was happening....2nd tank of gas was to go get the new motor, and the 3rd was to drive back home)...yeah it was like a ****** blue screen down the highway

yea ******* tell me about it, its the d series curse. my car is originally silver but the back end looks half silver half black. i just don't want this thing to nickel and dime me to death before i graduate.
