if that's all you want to fix, i think parts would be about $50-75. but that's a lot of work just for a synchro. i wouldn't do just the synchro ring unless A) it was a beater or B) the synchro was hella shot

of course, labor, if you bring the tranny to a shop to do it, is like $500+. i'd do it for $100 + price of the part(s) installed. plus shipping, yo. yup, this here's a blatant plug.

THe 5th-reverse synchro assy (which includes the synchro hub and sleeve as well as the two synchros) runs roundabouts $140.

You will more than likely need a fifth gear sleeve set. They run about 150 bucks and are an original New Honda part. Do it the right way and take it to a reputable shop. Otherwise your trans may end up as a core trans in our place!!j/k We do get the backyard mechanic misshaps on a daily basis though

go to standardtransmission.com. they'll hook you up with tranny parts for less.

thanks for the replies I wish i was a little smarter on buying a car i guess i was so desperate since i didnt ahve a car for like 7 months (car stolen this summer) but the guy said it was a cheap fix...yea right I got my car back and it passed smog but now the check engine light went on and asked to fix the 5th gear which he didn't SUCH BUll sh&t im going thru at the moment I would take you on that offer but im in the bay area ca....I have to see the situatoin by the end of the week....

This car made me truly hate integras now sad aint it...

here is my sitauion if anybody want to hear

Bought car cause guy is going to iraq and i thought it was a good deal at 3600

He let me know in advance it will pass smog, 5th gear syncro out wont cost much

What he didnt' let me know: Car has been squeezed the fu%k out when my friend took a look at it when he took out the ctr cams and vtec contrller to install stock cams trying to pass smog which i still didn't after the install.

After alot of email tags back i wanted to return car and he did agree at the beggining and then later wanted to fix the problem with smog and even did suggest the 5th gear fix with it so i was ok ill do it then instead of returning the car
(was goign to make payments back because tehy said they use the money to down his sister car)
I got the car back on sunday and i have the smog papers saying it pass as i drove it to test the 5th gear they didnt fix it!!! also when i was on the road the check engine light lit and i was freakin pissed.

Right now im waiting for any email back or going to call the father because the car is under his name actually. I was willing to take payments back and some deduction for taking out the ctr and vtec controller which imo not smog legal anyway but i did take it out trying to pass smog.(failed 2x almost 3x the legal limit)

My mechanic friend said all i can do it is request money back or report them to the lemon law here in california. I have tried but its hard having any contact with them since the guy went to iraq and the father lives in bakersfield.
What i was told by the lemon law worker is that i can go to small claims court and deal with this but I think its too much of a hassle also because I do need to have a reliable car to go work and school. I have missed taking my license classes to sell car insurance because of these car problems arise and it conflicts with my own schooling at college.

Blah im just frustrated on buying this car and dealing with bullsh%t any ht people have any suggestions they are welcome

thanks

well, offer still stands. $100 labor. if you find some time off when you don't need the car or something, i'll be happy to do a quick job. and yes, small claims court is a joke. the guy probably won't even show up. it sucks. but if i were you i'd either try to get some money back or sell the whole car if this doesn't clear up soon. that's a load of crap you're going through with them, and it sounds like they sold you a car they knew was going to be a piece of work.
