Default Vafc OBD3, and check engine light.

Has anyone successfully installed their Vafc on an OBD3 ecu without the check engine light coming on? If so please inform me on how you did it.

.....I'm guessing you mean a p73 for that itr you've got?

I installed mine with no problems. Plug and play. I got the kit from kenji on this board.

Recheck and solder all of your wiring connections if you are having problems.....

Like it was just said, there is no OBD3 yet. I installed one in my 2000 gs-r and it just popped another code today. probably a 67 though so I don't care.

From what I was told by mechanics and other Honda guys is that the 00 and up GSR's and ITR's are OBD3.

It is OBDIIv2 which you are mistaking for OBDIII.

OK so the 00-01 are not OBD3, then what are they? I was told that it was OBD3 key coded by the dealers, and other Honda mechanics.

Nope. 00+ have the immobilizers (3 extra wires on the ecu harness) though.

I dont know of any 97 or 98 cars that are OBDIIv2

OBDIIv2 started with the 99+ cars...except the HX w/CVT tranny which started in 2000

I seem to recall otherwise, but could be wrong. I thought it went to obdiir2 due to the check engine light problems they were having in 96 and early 97 with obdiir1?

Not sure in 99.. but the 00+ ecu was different because of the immobolizer.. maybe some other stuff as well. kenji might be one of the better ppl to ask about this if sgT doesn't know (i'm sure he knows though).

In the US? Or Japan? I've heard something like that for JDM cars.. but didn't know that for USDM Hondas. That's interesting.
