Default Flywheel Timing Marks?

Well, everyone on here says to line up tdc you need to look at the white + sign. In teh one im looking at, theres a white -, then right below it is like half a + sign, and it snot white. THen a little bit farther down are teh three timing marks. Do i line up up the little half + sign right below the white dash, or is there another mark.

try this. Stick a LONG socket extension in the number 1 cylinder. Get a 19mm and a big *** bar on the crank pully and manualy turn the motor. Watch the extension until its at its absoulte peak. Thats TDC. Then check on the flywheel if there is a mark close, if not your not dead on TDC. on an OEM flywheel i never had to **** with it. On my ACT streetlight flywheel its a dot all by it self then the 3 timing marks are below.

Are we talking about a stock flywheel here?

Are you doing a timing belt job or something?

There is TDC on the exhaust stroke and on the intake stroke,^^^^^that is not the proper way to do it unless you know wich stroke you are on.

You can pull the valvecover off and check it by the cam gears.

I think common sense would tell anyone to look at the flywheel after they got the piston to TDC and see if the mark was actually there.....at least I hope so

hey guys, i double checked it by using the screwdriver in teh #1 cylinder method, and yeah, its teh half a + sign mark, lol. I kept reading plus sign, but i couldnt find it on the flywheel. Story is, a guy brought his recently build and swapped h22 prelude in teh shop afteranohter shop screwed it up. Its my job to get it running, and so far i found 2 injectors not firing, fixed, and the timing was 180 degrees off. Smart guys, lol. Thanx for the info, now i have to swap an h23 manual tensioner on it, considering i cant get the auto one loose, and its a built h22a, and i heard the auto tensioners start to get screwy after modifying the h22.
