Why are these two welders so different in size?
This is the month I finally buy my welder and I have my eyes set on a Syncrowave 180. My questions is why is this thing so much bigger than something like a Dynasty 200? The 180 is 4 times the size and weight, yet less powerful. What gives? Is the Dynasty some sort of superior new age design?

Not significantly. If you plan to weld aluminum on a daily basis, you would be best to go with the 300DX Dynasty....otherwise, the old transformer machines will suit your needs fine and do the occasional aluminum work also.
