Default my latest project- "Civic GST"

Here's what i've been working on lately- my Civic GST project, aptly named because i'm using pretty much all DSM parts, is still in the works, but i'll go ahead and post it up and just update it as i start putting it together. It's just gonna be a cool daily driver, i'm not aspiring for max hp or 10 second passes, just a quick sporty little ride.

First off, the donor:
a 1995 Civic DX Coupe, D15b7 engine, with bolt ons. It has 170k miles on it. (i'm just gonna go ahead and blow the b7 then drop a d16z6 in there)

and a couple of shots of the engine, i've done a ghetto CAI with a K&N cone filter using a pipe i fabricated and the stock rubber arm, ES motor mount inserts, hypergrounded it with 8ga stereo wire, removed a/c, dynomax turboII exhaust, and advanced timing 3 degrees.

Some more cool stuff i've done:
15" Rota Circuit 8's with 205/50/15 Kumho Ecsta rubber

Integra gauge cluster w/ amber lighting, JDM-style amber clock (modified off a Honda CRV), JDM-style amber climate control, Pioneer DEH-5500MP head unit (looking for something amber) and yes i know the gauge cluster is an automatic, i couldn't find one for my 5 speed.

Silverstar bulbs

Now finally, the go-fast donations:
custom Eclipse GST turbo ****

a 14b Mitsubishi turbocharger

an HF manifold

a 1G DSM BOV.

Fuel management is running standalone thru Uberdata

Not pictured are an rx-7 TurboII intercooler and DSM 450cc injectors.
I'm also going to be running a 2.5" turbo-back exhaust system with a straight-thru 2.5" muffler. Tuning will be done at A-Z Performance by Nick Patterson, using a DynoJet and a wideband o2 sensor.

Total cost: a little under $500 for the custom turbo setup.

Next i'm gonna do my suspension, im looking at using Eibach springs on Koni Yellow shocks, an h-brace, and a gsr sway bar.

no center caps on the other side lol. i bought the wheels used, 2 of them were bent when i had tires put on so i had to get new ones. which is why im lookin for 2 center caps if anybody's got some to sell...

bsides, i dont wanna act like i'm trying to play off that they're mugen mf-8's instead of cheap "jdm" copies.

Its looking good.. the car is very clean..

Im interested in how the GSR cluster fit in there.. did you have to cut away at the plastic? If you could post a daytime picture of the cluster i'd appreciate it.

Good luck

well, i started out with a manual tranny gsr cluster w/ the 8k redline, and it went haywire on me. mph read 5mph over, tach stopped working some of the time, and fuel gauge always read empty (this was a big problem as u could guess).

i ended up getting the ls auto cluster to replace it, it's worked perfect for like 4 mos. the gsr cluster was in there for less than a mo.
heres a daytime pic of the old gsr cluster: (new cluster fits the same)

yes you have to cut it, and yes there is a little gap from the side. whenever i get some time i'll probably go put that turbo in, whenever i get some time after that i'm gonna make a fiberglass mold to cover that gap up. i just spray painted everything inside that gap black so it's not overt.

and check out that sweet cracked windshield i used to have

This is a totally random question but how did you mount your ECU like that?

Did you cut holes in the carpet? I'm just wondering because my ECU has been sitting on my floor for the last month or so while I've been fiddling around with Uberdata...

Nice car BTW..

that HF manifold will rob you of sooooo much power and leak like crazy.. and buddy of mine tryed to use one and he went through gaskets like it was nothing.... just our experience.. but IMO try getting a cheap mani made custom made.. results will be much better!.. but good DIY

how do you consider it a "GST"? You have 3 mitsu parts. Your turbo your Bov and your injectors. Dont get me wrong I like your car. I just dont see how you can say its a GST.
