Default K20 engine drop for accords under 7th gen.

I've gotten so many different responses from so many forums that i'm coming here for help.

Is it possible to drop the rsx engine into accords under 7th gen?

For example, I would like to drop it into my 4th gen accord. 91 lx.

is it possible?

Possible yes.

Worth it? no.

Custom mounts, tuning, fabrication of exhaust manifold, a HUGE amount of wiring, mounting a 6 speed tranny, etc. Very difficult, time consuming, and lots of $$$

Hats off to who does it, but i'm never gonna try it.

The ENGINE has good torque numbers for a lighter accord, but with the 6th gen sedans weighing in at around 2900 lbs, it'll be a bit sluggish.

This might help:

http://www.k20a.org and check this out: http://www.k20a.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=871 , looks like Hasport is going to be building a K24 Accord and will be offering mounts in the near future.

its been said too many times on HT, you can do anything with enough time, patience, and money. i heard of a dude with a del sol with a sr20det. its crazy. but is it worth it? i dont think so but ill give mad props to the guys that does it. with the amount of money itll take to buy a k20 and drop it in, you can make your car 5 times faster if you can FI. 2 cents

I'm not saying it's not worth it. The K is a wonderland of performance. Just fitting it in an earlier Accord would be a pain.

Youd have to rewire the OBDII to OBDI, make sure theyre both hydro or cable trannies, reattach everything to the wiring harness, etc....something you cant just do over a weekend, youd probably need help or have someone do it.

isnt OBDIII for the 05 cars???......i only ask this cause my buddy has an 04 rx8 and he once said something about the 05's lost alot of power do to new regulations (cats having to last for 120K or something liek that???)............

its basically like doing a cross manufacturer hybrid....from what ive read, the D and E series chassis accept the k series motors with more ease (though that is all relative)......the issue will be wether or not the hasport kit is up to par.....i know alof of the b series mounts available for 3rd gen accords are kinda shady

False, there's no such system as OBD3, all '96 and above cars use OBD2 due to emission regulations.

As for wiring for the K24 into say a 5th or 6th Gen Accord. Hasport usually comes out with wiring kits, just like their motor mount kits. I'm sure if it's something they feel they can do well and make a good profit off of it, they'll look into it.

Aswell it's not something that's going to be done in a couple of days. It'll have to be a project car, probably more like 1 month or so. At some point I'm sure we'll have enough info to do it ourselves (the more able of us), but at this point in time I'd have to refrence myself off of an OBD1 civic or something similar.

Engine mounts are in the works (hasport), As far as I'm concerned, I'll keep the 6 grand that a K20 costs and put myself in the low 13's high 12's
