Default CAUTION: attempted theft over weekend

I go to school in socal and I have to park my R in the dorm parking lot. On friday nights, I usually make a habit of moving the R towards the front of the parking lot. But last friday, I decided to leave it where it was parked from wednesday. On saturday my auto paging alarm alerted me that the hood sensor had been triggered. So i take a look at my hood pins and I noticed that they were in the opposite direction as I always leave them, meaning someone tried to open my hood which explains why the hood sensor had gone off. I checked the car and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. However, today I took a closer look at the right side of the car and I saw that the bumper/as well as front lip was separated from the fender. I'm positive that this happened the same day, because I"ve had the car for a few months and the hood sensor had never been triggered once.

My question is were the thieves trying to steal my front lip? Or were they trying to steal my front bumper? Or were they trying to get to the battery (so they can steal my car) by removing the fender or bumper? I've heard about thieves removing the fender so they can access the battery to reset the alarm. Do you need to open the hood to steal G3 integra bumpers? The pictures attached show the damages. Thanks

I'd almost say they were after your lip. I noticed a few weeks ago someone unbolted mine in the same way only they took the screws. It most likely happened when my GF had the car as I never part it where anyone could do that.

I'm not a thief or an expert so they may very well have been trying to do what you suspect.

Isn't that the wrong side for the hood release cable? The pics look like they are on the passenger side.

They might have just wanted your lip, but I can't see your car lasting very long when its parked out in the open in a parking lot. Best of luck

You better buy a beater if you still plan on dorming. I REALLY don't want to see that R get stolen.

they were NOT going after your hood release because that is on the driver side. however, this attempted theft ISN'T the issue! the issue is you being in college and having that car. i understand it's a tight car and everything, but some things are too burdensome . if you absolutely cannot afford a beater, i would make sure your insurance covers all your mods.

sigh... I know the cable is on the other side, I was just trying to avoid saying that The reason I suggested it, is maybe they dont know or couldn't remember which side it is on.

That's what i was thinking of too. I reported it to the police and they made an incident report but other than that, there's really nothing they can do.

I think they were trying to get to your intercooler or lip, but it's very possible your car could have disappeared that night. That is not a car to keep on a college campus, garage that thing.

They were looking to get your lip or they were looking for hidden sirens

They will be back....Keep it safe.

Man I hope that campus is safer than the school I go to...which buy the creation of this thread does not lead me to believe so...

I would never leave a car like that on a college campus 24/7...

I hope it stays safe man, that car is awesome

damn...sad to say but i dont see that car lasting too much longer in an environment like that. you should do something that will force them to tow it away rather than just having an alarm and parking it up front. (if you already have, dont say what you have done here).

Why oh why would you leave that sweet *** car in the open. But then again I probably would too, if it was my only whip.

Be careful mang, and keep a close watch on ur car. Would hate for another tight AARR to be lost.

They will have to pop the hood to get to your fender. Good thing you have a 2-way paging alarm man. THAT THINGS SAVES YOU!!! I also had an attmpted theft last week.
