Default newbie needs help on b18 swap

i just wanted to know if anyone could give me a parts list for a b18a swap into my crx, i need someone that has done it successfully and can give me a list of everything i need. i can do the homework on where to get the parts but i am kinda new at this so try to be specific. i just dont want to attempt the swap without getting everything together first. any tips would help, or if this thread has been posted before a link to it would be great. thanks. -kaelin

I'll help you and it won't be the you need to search because I'm a nice guy. You need:

Ecu= Bought

Resistor Box= Bought

Clutch & Flywheel combo= $569.99+ shipping http://www.prostreetonline.com...sck04/

Header (DC Sport 4-2-1 two piece)= Bought

Motor mount= NoLimitMotorSport.com $355 shipped

Shift linkage= Bought

Rear Brake Pads= Cobalt GT-Sport $59.
http://www.cobaltfriction.com/...31809

Axles= $319. Raxles.com

That's a parts list that I made up. A few things you won't need like brake pads. Those are also some of the cheapest prices I could find.

Good luck on your swap also. I'm sure there are something little things that you might need. You'll find out as you go along though.

umm... no. You dont need $300 aftermarket axles, you dont need a resistor box, you definetly dont need a $550 clutch and flywheel combo, You dont need a DC header...

You do need:

b18a
b series cable tranny (to keep swap simple)
pr4 obd-0 ECU (to keep swap simple)
90-93 stock integra axles
90-93 integra intermediate shaft
Bseries in EF swap mounts
B18a exhaust manifold

on the linkage you can either buy one or mod yours, its not hard at all if you have access to any welder.

If you have a STD or DX you will need to swap to Si/Ex hubs and convert to MPFI from the stock DPFI.

You could easily do this for under $1200. And yes there are a few things you definetly want to check/replace when the engine is out of the car like, and these are in order of importance...

Timing belt
HG
clutch
oil pan gaskets
w/p

If all of the above are still good and not needing replacement, go ahead and put that **** in and welcome to the DOHC SIDE

He never said that he didn't have an hf or an si so he might be in the same boat as me with the dx and have to buy the resistor box for the fuel injectors. True he doesn't need $300 axles, but he doesn't have to go with the ones I want. He just knows that he needs axles. The header he might not need, but I did, that's why I said a few things you might not need. I would hope that he would use common sense if he didn't need to buy a new header, don't buy them. I paid $150 for my shift linkage shipped. I don't have a welder so I went the way I trusted and bought it from a trusted company.

i also believe he wanted somone to reply thats had experience, and according to your post your are "in the process" of the swap. I dont need to go as far to explain my car background to you, because as you frequent these boards more you will realize. But i can tell you that ive done enough swaps to have people refering me to people all over NE indiana indiana who need swaps done.

I just think you should have rephrased your first post to something that was more understandable because that was barely if any useful info at all.

How is it not useful. Go down the list see what I need. Check around. It's a start. It's alot better than saying use the search button. Just wanted to help the guy out that's all. Maybe next time I'll be an *** and tell him to use the search button. So I can be like everyone else that doesn't really want to be any help to a newb. But it's cool.

the search is the most helpful advice, how can you say its not. If i wouldnt of chimed in the kid would have been misinformed, BY YOU.

But if he wouldve used the archive search or the Ef Civic.CRX FAQ post he wouldve had more than 100 repsonses to leaf through, and had more input.

Okay... You werent even close to being specific, hell you didnt even name the axles the kid needed.

Actually for the dx you will not need to switch the hubs. That is only for the hf/std model cars. But everything else you mentioned is good.

I'll give you that part about him not needing aftermarket parts, and the axles. But everything else is common sense. The search might be easy for you, but it might not be for him. If he can't figure out what he needs from a list of what I said then I doubt he will get the search.

Yes any b series cable transmission will bolt to any bseries block besides the early generatin prelude bseries blocks. There is some difference between the input shats on the early (pre-92) b series cable transmissions. They have a smaller input shaft than the 92-93 b series cable transmissions.

As for the PR4 ecu check your local junkyards or the classifieds here on HT. The PR4 came out of the 90-91 integra ls.

Good Luck

You need to find a manual 90-91 acura integra in the junkyard. That will be the easiest way.

The pr4 is an obd0 ecu that manages b18a engines

Any bseries cable tranny will work, if its hyrdo you will either have to make a conversion kit or buy HASports. But to keep things simple you would want to keep it a cable bseries tranny. 90-91 had the same input shaft & cable, the 92-93 were cable but had diff spline count, 92-on are hydro with the same spline count as 92-93.

^ thats the FAQ.

Good Luck. Search before you post and all will be good, as a last resort you should post to clear up any questions you have after researching the fact, you will get the best responses this way.

thats a good site, especially if hes in fact swapping on a dx or std car.

but if its Si or HF no wiring is needed.
