Fuel injector cleaner, gas treatement...etc..serve a useful purpose?
Im not sure if this is the right forum for this but I'll give it a shot anyways since I have an accord. What do you guys think about these engine and gas treatments? Do they actually clean the fuel injectors etc. or is more like false advertising. If they do what would you recommend for cleaners to keep the engine in top shape. Im reaching the 150,000 mile mark.....Thanks....
Yes they do work. Had an audi that would hardly run when I purchased it. Took about 5-6 treatments but it worked. Used Gumout brand. Most report that Techron by Chevron is the best cleaner. It cleans the injectors and pistons of carbon if used on a regular basis. I use it about every 25,000 miles because it is fairly expensive at 6.00 to treat 12 gallons. Probably should be used about every 10,000 to keep everything clean. Some gas has lots of cleaner added. Shell high test is suppose to have 5 times normal cleaning additive added. I found it increased my milage by about 2 mpg over other high test in my Miata. So I use it all the time to keep from having to buy the Techron.
I just purchase aa 97 accord LX and I have given it 3 treatments of the Techron.
Not sure what maintenance it had before so I probably over did it.
