Painted my altezza's I hated my 96 stock tails, got tired of the altezza's so how about this?

Get the 99-00 tails. I think those would look better than that.

Okay, here's my negative standpoint on Altezza taillights, even if they are painted over. No, I'm not gonna be like everyone else and scream "rice" like it's bloody murder. From personal experience and driving behind cars with 'em on. They were obnoxious in the day time. For some reason, the chrome housings produced more glare on the lenses themselves when the sun shines. Hell, even the red part was kinda hard to see in the daylight. I'm not blind or anything, but I just personally think the brake lights aren't as obvious to see as the OEM ones to me. Just giving ya an opinion here. It's kind of a tacky idea to paint over 'em, but whatever makes your car stand out from the 308502380180481 Civics in a parking lot.

well honestly to me it looks like red gto covers. i like the 99-00 civic lights better. so id invest in those.

 

They don't look very shiny; kinda dull. How many coats? You only need two. You should be able to see through the paint and see your bulbs.....yours looks like solid red..........lost the whole transparent part of the paint. Maybe it is just a bad pic.

The 99-00 Tails look better. Your altezzas do look better than the regular chrome ones.

 

I just blacked out the factory tail lights on my GSR, doesn't look ricey at all, very clean. Cost me like ten dollars too.

 

Well thanks for all your opinions, I put 2 thick coats of the red on, then 2 thick coats of the clear coat. Yea they aren't as glossy as I'd like but I'm researching how to get them there. I personally don't think the 99-00 look that great. I wanted to mute the rear of my car (taillights blend with trunk). I think this does a decent job of it. I agree it's not perfect, but perfection takes time and experience.
The chrome ones i agree were annoying to look at, hence I painted mine. Thinking of opening them and painting the chrome black?
Converted another RA I don't know what your talkin' about but oh well.
