Default H22a in a 96 EX coupe times?

I'm considering putting an H22a in my 96 ex coupe and i was wondering what kinda of times i could expect from basically stock. Anyone with some 1/4 mile times or numbers would be be appreciated. Thanx

not an easy swap tp do. why not just do a b-series instead? haven't seen a lude swap in a coupe only a couple of hatches. and i haven't seen any run.

Well partially because everyone does the b16 swap and it works but i want around the 200hp stock range, and finding a b18c5 gets a little pricey. the h22a seems to be good hp for the $.

yeah but u'll make the difference up in price with the cost of fabrication or mount kits neccessary to use the lude motor in your coupe.

the mount kit is approx 600$ at hasport i believe and the price difference in the motors falls around 2500$ difference, so I think the savings would still be there.

I've seen a guy with a 94 four door run 13.5-7's with a H22, all stock, the weekend after he got the swap. Don't remember if he was running slicks or not though. (@ Pomona Raceway)

Mid 13s easily. My friend has a 96 coupe with H22A (converted to OBD-1) and it's fast (not as fast as my hatch, but it keeps up pretty well, but I can still pull away). As for mount kits costing $600, I sell the HCP mounts for almost half that (which is what we're all using... perfect fit and zero problems). Complete swaps usually run around $2000-$2500, and you'll need extra parts while installing the motor, so add another $300-$500 in parts.

i'd definitly be interested in getting the mounts off you if i end doing this swap .. which i most likely will. Do you have a website with some prices and a list of the other things i'd need for the swap? Thanks

Put this way... my friend's H22 EK coupe leaves (I mean just blows it away) my roommate's B16A2 EG coupe, and the B16 coupe is still quick (can easily beat LS hatchbacks) so it ain't no slouch... just not as fast as the H22 coupe. Check out my webpage (listed under my name... it won't display if I type it in here cause of the 4-letter word in the address ). Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

F*U*C*K the H22A. Why? Here's a link to a bunch of H22A hybrid owners and THEIR times - not "I saw" or "I heard" either. LOTS of mid-14's. LOTS of excuses too, like "my check engine light" and etc.

Nothing but trouble. If you NEED slicks to run good times, then your car won't do S*H*I*T on the street. Soory, I may sound like an *** here, but it's true.

Here's the link:

To say an H22A in a coupe will net "mid-13's" easy is pretty funny. Just because you "saw" or "heard of" someone doing it doesn't mean S*H*I*T. There are more sob stories from the H22A swaps than there are success stories from what I've seen.

I'm not saying it's NOT possible, but don't make blanket statements about how the H22A will be "easy" 13's in a coupe.

Read the link.

A 1996 EX coupe weighs around 2550-2600lbs, right? Yeah, I don't think the average 165whp from an H22Awill be "easy" 13's.

Heh, I've read that link before and a majority of those guys are morons who don't know what they're doing. I know cause I've been emailed by half of them asking how to do this or that, and then they get pissed off cause what I tell them to do, they can't do it and they do some half-*** install and something breaks. Anyways, I've seen a coupe with H22 run 13.8 on street tires.... last Saturday, my friend's EK. I was pulling low 13s on radials, which I sometimes use on the street (good traction on the street, not too good on the track since there's too much torque when launching anything past 4500 rpms).

I'm not gonna bash on other people's swaps, but I've seen people who can't drive worth . I'm not going to say that a H22 is a waste of money. I've been turbo B20 for awhile and threw the H22 in... I like it much better and like the sleeper effect it has, cause I know how to drive my car. My friend who ran a 13.8 started out running high 14s at the beginning of the day, then eventually got a 13.8 and 13.9 on street tires with just intake & exhaust.

Frankly, I can careless what other people say about certain swaps, but if you've never driven or ridden in one, then go out and try it and then come back and say that the swap is a waste of time & $$$. BTW, another friend of mine has a 98 JDM ITR swap in his EG hatch... he was running mid-high 13s on street tires, and yes, he knows how to drive his car, but he's got I/H/E, and some extra chit on his car to make it faster.... it had more top end than the H22 coupe (they lined up twice) but the coupe took it off the line for the first 1/8 mile each time.... I have it on video - I'll try to upload it sometime this week when I'm not drunk or lazy

the h22a is a great swap/ why not swap a b16???
because a stock h22 coupe will blow the doors of a stock b16hybrid and swap isn't all that dif.
and oh yeah TORQUE!!!!!!!!
but anyway------topic at hand ------
I know you asked for coupe times, but I got an ek hatch that wieghd in at 2600lbs. with my fat *** in it and heavy *** 17's (prob equiv. to your coupe weight)

first time at the track I ran a 14.005 at 98 mph---englishtown NJ
Bone stock----shortram intake, and apexi ws exhaust--stock clutch??miles on it
with some weight pulled new clutch and getting better at getting the power down i'm guessing i should be hittin mid 13's by summers end!!!

great swap idea you'll love it
