Default CRX and EFs are old. What do you think about these smog "assistant" products?

Blue sky claims their product will help you pass smog.

http://www.blueskycleanair.com/pass.html

Passsmog.com also has a bottle formulated to help you pass smog.

http://www.passsmog.com/

What do you guys think? Should I save my money and just go for it? I have an HF I need to smog so I can get it registered. i dont have any tools up down here to do any maintance to get it running close to right. Id like to get some new spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor etc., but no tools here at college. It only has 62 horsepowers, so i dont believe it can do anything crazy like not pass. No mods all stock! Except the euro corners or for bluesky or passsmog stuff?

Go for it. It can't hurt really. The hf should pass as long as the car is nice and warm before the test. Question I was under the impression Florida didn't have smog tests??

I also have an 89 HF but it’s not register yet too. I went to get a smog check but they told me that they couldn’t because the engine was swapped. I need to contact Sacramento B.A.R. to get a permit then I could get my CRX smog. I'm going to the DMV tomorrow to get more information about smog and registration.

BTW I checked the smog record for my CRX and it all passed until 2003 before the swap so I think you have a chance to pass the smog test because everything is stock.

I really don’t trust the product unless if I heard from somebody that actually used it to passed the test.

I think you can get a tempoary driving permit if you go the dmv. Just tell them you did a swap and need time to fix and schedule appointments for your car to get smogged.

because I got my car register but they told me to call B.A.R. (Bureau of Automotive Repair) to get a permit for smog.

Most of those products are simply fuel injector cleaner. About a week ago I used “guaranteed to pass emissions formula” found at pep boys. I got this because I failed for having high mono-carbon. It slightly lowered my level, but not enough. It also raised my nox level. Some of these products might work but a lot don’t, so don’t put to much faith in an $8 bottle.

Changing your plugs, cap and rotor will probably be more effective at only a slightly higher cost.

Im having the same problem on my 89 DX, i just bought it, but it obviously isnt passing smog, its changed hands twice in 5 months, me being the third. I just replaced the cat, but it still has a little smokey going on, and I hate the fumes and smoke, i have some fuel injector cleaner im going to be putting in today, and hopefully I'll have time to change the oil too. I've heard rumor that higher octane gasoline helps with emmissions and/or longetivity once its older...that true? Thanks guys.
