Default misshift =[

me and my friends were on our way to barona at about 1pm when he downshift so i thought i should catch up with him...so i down it to 3rd...picked up speed then put it into 4th when i missed shift...didn't go into 4th or any other gears but but it redline far beyond 9....

so i pulled to the side came to a complete stop..my car bogged out and shuts off...

we look under the car to see if therewere any oil leaks but non...inspected the motor and all looks fine...

i tried starting it up but didn't start...and my friend told me to give it some gas....so then it finally start...but it was boggin very bad rpm just drop and shuts off its self again...

so we started it up again tried driving it and all seems fine....but sometime when we would come to a complete stop on redlights that rpm we drop below 1k...and starts boggin again then shuts off and somtime itll just idle on 5k boggin very bad

i took it my friends house he check up the check engine light and we got 72 and 90

he then check the sparks plug and hole number two wasn't giving any spark...like the car would stay the same even if the spark plug number 2 wasn't pluged

i think thats one of the problem ...no spark runing 2 cylinder

but when i took it to my other friends house...he said he had the SAme thing happen to him...missed shift...he told me the valves are bend

i asked him "did the car shuts off every stops and idles like this" he said "yup same exact thing"

what do u guys think? take it to a shop/machine shop and let them find and replace the bent valves? cuzz im very low on budget =[

thanks guys

How can you over-rev your engine on an upshift? If you mis your gear you will know it before you get back on the throttle...

code 72 is random misfire on cylinder 2, 90 is evap system with a leak detected. something like that.

You really need to learn how to drive 5 speed. Maybe you should get an auto LS

You probably floated the valve by over-revving and the piston on its way up probably bent 2 of the valves on that #2 cylinder. The misfire is coming from no combustion taking place in that cylinder. This happened to me when a friend over-revved my GSR... it won't be covered under warranty because it'll be considered driver's fault. I just bought all 16 valves and replaced them all myself and took it to the dealer for a valve adjustment. I forgot how much the valve kit costs because my friend was the one who f'd 2 valve up and he offered to pay and help install.

Good luck 2ya

you never slammed the car into gear and just over-revved? this will be the first time i hear of this kind of stuff. sounds like you're driving the car; DON'T.

I'd plan on taking the head off and running it by a machine shop. Most likely you bent your valves. If you dropped one then your car probably wouldn't run at all b/c you would have metal boucing around in your cylinders. Also, shine a light down in the spark plug hole and make sure your piston is still there and looks ok. Don't ask me why I recommend this... My car burried the tach when I mis-shifted and melted a piston. I found piston and valve pieces in my header!

A short time of fun with a built lsvtec and now I'm back with a fresh B18C5 under the hood.

Maybe you should get some posts under your belt before telling anyone else what to do. This kind of stuff happens to everyone, and its easy to laugh when its someone else with the problem and not you. You deserve the auto LS.

Let me help you out. Education is more important than your car.

If you bent some valves, it will cost a couple hundred for new valves, a new headgasket, and maybe a valvecover gasket if you're so inclined. Be realistic about it, I'm sure you can fit that onto your credit card.

^^^Worst Idea ever.
Hmm...I'm sure you'll be making more than enough after college to fix it. There's summer coming up as well...you know you could get a job then and not even have to drop out of school...ever think about that? eh? eh?

**** happens. Just live and learn, and practice a little more. I would expect you will have to spend something around $500 since you're not doing the labor. Could be more if there is some unforseen damage. just gonna have to take the head off and find out

i thought the rev-limiter keeps the rpm's from going beyond 8400 rpm when a upshift misshift occurs? i know you can overrev by slamming 2nd instead of 4th when ur in 3rd but while upshifting shouldnt your rev limiter come into play? especially sense he didnt get it into any gear?

Maybe his ECU doesn't have a cut-off.

Anyways, in my opinion, just suck it up, pour out the money (get a loan if you have to) and get your motor fixed. If you drive a broken car around it's only gonna get worse.

You had to have mis-shifted into 2nd, otherwise the ecu would have limited the rpm. However, the ecu can't stop it if mechanically the transmission is forcing the motor to rev beyond the stock limit...

Don't drop college, whatever you do. Even if the valves have to wait a while.

yeah, there's nothing you can do if you mis shift into gear. if you rev it while the car is in neutral or still in the gear your coming out of, then the rev limiter should catch it. I'd plan on 500 dollars as a good starting point before you get it checked out. It may be less, it may be more, just make sure your bottom end is ok. If you rev too high, then the pistons get so hot they can melt and/or separate from the rod at the wristpin. Thats what happened to me as my rod went down, and my piston stayed. As soon as the rod went up again, it slammed my molten piston into my head..... It wasn't pretty.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Agent Bilkins &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Im sorry i guess you just go out and cant handle driving 5 speed and not shift correctly and into gear and tromp on the gas and over rev hardcore and bend the **** out of your valves. Just tell Kip to bring you your chapstick so you can kiss my ***.

Just because you mess up once doesn't mean you cant drive. I've had 0 accidents after 6 years of driving and have had 8 cars, (twin turbo 300zx, honda prelude, two integras, 2 acura legends, ect.) I've driven just about everything and my itr has been the only one to suffer
