I just got a set 13x5.5 pearl white Mugen CF-48's with a 39 offset. what i need to know is what is the max width tire i can use and how low of an profile should i go on the street. the stock tires where 185/75/13. i was thinking 195/60/13 or close and tell me what you all think about Advan AO32Rs? thanx a mill.

I just got the new 215/50-13 V700's mounted on 13x7 race wheels with a 5" backspace. They fit nice. I think a 215/50-13 would squeeze over that rim if you're looking for meats. The AO32 also comes in that size.

There isn't much available in 13" sizes any more. The A032R is probably a good bet for a street/track tire in 195/60-13. Tirerack doesn't seem to have anything else close that is streetable (unless you consider 205/60-13 Kumho V700s streetable). Everything else is pretty tame.

185's are OEM on many 5.5" wheels. 195's will fit on 5.5's just fine also. 205's will fit with some sidewall bulge. Not sure if 215's are a good idea, though.

As for A032R's, I might ask what the car is going to be used for. As a street tire, they are arguably the best thing money can buy but they don't last very long. As an autox/opentrack tire, they are at the bottom of the list in terms of absolute grip. (FWIW in that scenario, 205/60-13 Kumho V700 Victoracers are stickier and cheaper.)

IMHO you will have a hard time finding any 13" tire worth having... with a sidewall shorter than a 60-profile. As far as sticky street tires go, probably your best all-around bet is the 205/60-13 Yokohama AVS Intermediate, in-stock for $59ea at http://www.tirerack.com

Hope that helps,

Jon

For a compeition tire that can also be used on the street, i'd highly recommend the Toyo RA1. I know several people that use them on the street and get 8-10K miles out of a set. They are available in 205-60-13 size too, which will fit fine on a 5.5" rim although that rim size is at the minimum recommended width. Should still work fine...

I didn't like the A032Rs they took too long to heat up for autocross. I'm pretty sure they make great track tires.
