Stress cracks from using es mm inserts on the inside of the tranny
Tell me what you guys think. I had 301whp on my k20a3, used es mm inserts and have a quaife lsd. I think using es mm inserts with hard launches at the track caused this...the inserts transfered too much vibration to the tranny imo. No big deal for me, as I have a k20a2 tranny and motor coming.

what does casting flash mean? it wasn't there before when I did my lsd install a few months back.

it was prolly there you just did not notice it. every honda transmission and block i have seen has those. just about every trans on in the clutch housing and on blocks where the webbing comes close they have "casting flaws"

Casting flash is material left by casting molds when parts are cast. Most likely you never noticed when you had it opened the first time. Every honda tranny i have opened has looked exactly like that.
Edit- Here's a pic i have of the inside of one, not the best pic, but as you can see it too has alot of casting flash:

That's why I originally expressed curiosity over how many of those were superficial, aka casting flash, versus structural cracks. I've never heard of anyone destroying their block or tranny due to motor mount inserts

No its that earth shattering power that just cracked the transmission all up!!j/k I thought the same thing when I opened my first Honda transmission!!
It makes it hard to see when there really are cracks!

I must say honda trannies seem to be pretty much bullet proof. The casting "cracks"/flash are easy to tell because they appear very dark while most real cracks are hard to discern, and have a sort of seamless look. Dude honda-tech rocks, knowledable people for sure.
