Default Not very knowledgeable on tires, need help

I picked up a set of VX rims and looking for some tires. Yeah yeah I know good luck finding good 13" tires performancewise. Just curious I was looking around and would 185/60 work? Yeah I can swap an engine and make and install turbo kits with my eyes closed but never took the time to figure out tires sizes for what the numbers mean So I found a set of Advans A048's and just got these rims since I'm gonna start autocrossing this year and wanted a nice set of light rims for cheap.

13" rims for autocross? I suggest opting for larger rims because your car is gonna handle like crap with 13". 13" = skinny tires = less rubber on the pavement. I would go with 15" mainly because you have a large selection of performance tires, and usually they're the cheapest.

Well the rims I already bought so now it's just tires I'm searching for. I've got 15" Sparco N1's on my EG8 but my hatch is getting stripped down and just like the vx rims.

Actually, some of the champs run 13", but they're 13x8. If you're in a stock class (which I'd reccomend your first time out), stay with 13", and you don't even need a super performance tire. The 1.5 seasons with my EK, I ran it with the crappy Firestones it came with. You'll learn alot, and really be able to tell what a good tire can do for you.

With that being said, if you end up getting anything else, I'd run a 14". I've got steelies for autoX, and can run a 205 on them. I have 15" for the street, but for racing it's not worth the extra weight or expense. There are some nice light 15", but the rims and tires start getting very expensive. I'll do it once I become competitive and need that edge, but for now 14" is fine.
