So I've just done the rear conversion to disc on my 94 EX (haven't had a chance to drive it yet). My question is, I know the GSR calipers are, from what I've found searching the forums, "slightly" larger than my stock front calipers. And from what I've gathered, I can bolt those calipers right on without a knuckle change since my 94 EX has the same size rotors as 94-01 Integras. My question for you guys that have done it already is....Since I already have the rear converted, do you think it's even worth the trouble to convert the front to GSR specs if the calipers are only "slightly" bigger than my current calipers?

Just want some opinions.

bump..ive been wondering the same thing myself, although i didnt not know that the gsr front discs were the same as the ex front discs. woohoo

 

ex as well as tegs have 10.25 rotors does ur ex have abs? if it does it might be the same size im using 93 civic ex brakes on 95 gsr 4 dr.

I can tell the difference with my INTEGRA front brakes - I upgraded from ex/si calipers.
I would definately not run the INTEGRA calipers without at least a 15/16" master cylinder. (I have a 1")

 

How much bigger is the piston on the Integra caliper than the EX caliper?

 

dont know off hand, but you can def FEEL the diff. if no one links pix, go to autozone and compare.

 

i have a 96 hatch and i took the whole fromt sprindles from a gsr and put the rear disk on and changing the front made such a big difference then just the rear disk i didn't change my master cylinder or my porportioning(sp) valve...haven't had any problems yet

yeah but did your 96 hatch have EX brakes (10.3" setup)? probably not.

so of course you are going to notice a difference going from a 9.5" setup to a 10.3" setup.

Normally the 93-95 EJ1's have 9.5" front rotors if they're non-ABS and 10.25" front rotors if they're ABS-equipped.

My girlfriend's 94 EJ1 has 9.5" front rotors, non-ABS. The dealership and OEM parts stores should tell you the same thing.

As far as the prop' valve goes on the EK's you don't have to worry about changing it out. They're already the 40/40 prop' valves. I verified part #'s with the dealership in comparing to a 99/00 Si.

My buddy had no problems on his EK when he had the 5-lug setup. Now that it's on my EG, I've got some problems being that I have to change at least my MC since I've got to floor the brakes before they even begin to slow down. I need a MC with a larger piston. 15/16" or the 1" MC if I could find one. My prop' valve was OK to leave since I've got an Si with the 40/40 prop' valve.

Bigger = Better even if it is just slightly bigger...

things that you "CAN" do that will make a big difference when swapping brakes

ITR or other camparable Integra bigger Master Cylinder... Big difference
Stainless Steel braided lines.... I felt a nice difference?
Brake fluid... If you can tell the difference you really needed a better brake fluid, usually only helps if you track the car or will be doing a lot of long hard driving

just my 2cents

 

i have gsr calipers on My EJ. stops better, but needs a bigger MC as the brake peddal drops way more.

direct bolt on for EX or SI models. brake pads are different tho.

Sorry dude, but I'm also interested in other people's opinion also.

 

brakes are stronger as well. worth the upgrade IMO.
