How do i prep Polyurethane Wings west Rs kit before gettin it painted?
I bought a RS wings west used for 300. Currently it's black. I was wondering how to prep it before i take it to the paint shop. Like do i primer it? sand it or what? It's polyurethane so i dont know what to do with it. What are the steps of preping it? Thanks.
take it to the shop and let them do the work. If you don't know what your doing your gonna make more work for them. Wetsand in 400 wet till its not shiny anymore when its dry
Wetsand with 400 grit
prep the surface with "Bulldog" promoter
spray poly-primer surfacer
wetsand poly-primer surfacer with 600 grit until surface is smooth and no orange-peel appears
prep the surface with prep-surface cleaner to make sure there is no dirt , grease
spray the base coat, 1st light coat, 20 minute flash time, then spray a 2nd coat
15 minute flash time
then shoot the clear spray 2 coats with 20 minute flash times apart, let the lip dry for 24 hours
wetsand between 1000-1500 grit depending on the outcome of the paint-job
2000 grit wetsand with soap and water
buff with 3m finecut rubbing compound
then hand-polish with 3m hand glaze and your done.
seems like alot of work? try it it will be fun and good luck!
or just take it to a shop less time and money. but it's alway's good to learn and experince a new trade!
