Install Day Results
Link to video at bottom
The day had finally arrived to install a collection of parts that had been growing in my room since Christmas. Waiting for me upon my return home were a pair of Buddly Club Spec III+ cams and cam gears, OEM timing belt, Hondata S100, used valve cover to trim for tuning, OBD conversion harness, K&N for my J's intake, and a distrubtor cap and rotor. I dorve home from school this weekend to install the parts on my car in time for VIR two weeks from now.

Everything went fairly well. My dad came over this moring to help put with the install and I can't thank him enough. My buddy John came home with me from school, about four hours away, just to watch the install go down, he also severd on video camera duty. After taking all the old parts off the new ones went in. A trip over to my dad's place netted us an impact gun to get the cam gears bolts off along with the crank pulley bolt. Everything came off and went on as planned. I was disheartened to see a heavily damaged distrubtor cap and rotor, cause by a backed out distrubtor rotor set screw. After all the parts were on we plugged in the Hondata.

Sitting down in the driver's seat, key in hand, nervousness consumed me. Having kncked on wood and crossed our finger, I started her up. To our pleasant surprise she fired right up. This ofcourse was a tad premature. After start up she idled at about 1500rpm before warming up and coming down to an even grand or so. After warming up however she dipped in the rpms a few times and cut off. Hrmm. Realizing the Hondata I have is tuned for GSR with Toda cams I decided to out the stock ECU back in and give it a shot. Viola! Started right up and came to a warm idle of 650 rpms.

My friend John and I hopped in the car and went for a spin. Taking it easy she ran fine and after driving around a bit I floored it through second and some of third. Not bad but parts of the power band definitely flatten out. Feels about even with my OEM cams at the moment, minus a few dips in power. This ofcourse will be remedied next weekend with a tune at AR Fabrications in Winchester. Not a bad day. Everything was installed, she sounds great, and should put down some good power on the dyno next weekend, and will be running strong at VIR.

Incase you're curious horsepower mods include: J's Intake with K&N filter, Type One header, SMSP modified 2.5" cat, Kteller 2.5" stainless b pipe with 14" resonator, Spoon N1 with 2.5" flange, and the aforementioned cams, gears, and Hondata.
Cliff's Notes: Installed some badass parts this weekend without a hitch. Cams/gears/Hondata.

The Spec III+ seemed like a better idea with my stock compression. From what I've read the IV's are for more built, higher compression engines.
-Aquafina- Yeah, my dad has gone with me to the last two Expos. Sadly I'm not going to make it this year because of school. He's beena vital role in my car hobby. Most of what I've done I couldn't do without his help.
It's gonna be a long week of waiting till I get to go get her tuned.
