Default alternator noise when lights are on

OK...here is the short and simple version: My alternator recently started making noise kind of like my girlfreind....could be time for replacement alright, that wasn't nice...ok, seriously, the alternator makes a little noise when sitting at idle. if you mist a little water on it the noise stops instantly, but returns a minute or so later. When i turn my headlights on the noise gets louder and consistant until i turn the lights off. its doesn't make the noise with any of the other accessories on; just the headlights

Any help here ladies and gents???

TIA!

Well your lights are one of the greatest loads on the electrical system of the car, you are loading the alternator when you turn the lights on which in turn causes the alternator to work harder, most likely the bushings or bearings on the mainshaft are shot and "squalling or squealing"

I had an LS in the past which did a similar thing
