Woohoo Honda Cup race 1
Basically 7 cars showed
Dave Karner - s2000, Special Projects 2 Teg's, 1 Blue Si, Hondata yellow hatch, Tecate sponsored white hatch and t3h varo mobile.
Kiwi broke a rod in the tired b20 during qualifying and was out for the race even though he appeared to be doing well beforehand, The White hatch was apparently involved in a on track incident and retired lap one, the Hondata car was off possibly due to an engine problem.
Basically only 4 cars finished the race with dave's s2000 being a clear leader by many seconds, the varo mobile comming in second, tom lepper in 3rd I think, and the blue si in 4th.
Kiwi seems to have another motor ready and will be running tommorrow ? The other 2 retires seem to be preparing to run again as well.
NO MO PIX Y0!

this guy was being told that he registered 104 db or 1 over limit, luckily he has all night to fix it for tommorrow

this thing was bitchin. a wheelie bar and an alarm with kill switch

SCCA was bass ackwards today and I think they started the race without official timming for the qualifying, some one will post it up at some point, Kiwi broke a p72 rod in half, which is a stock rod left over from his honda challenge efforts

The actual count was six cars in Honda Cup. Varo ran (and won) ITE and was not part of Honda Cup. Still, there were three more cars there than I expected to see. Fun to watch Lepper battle with GT-1 Camaros, too.
Honda Cup Results:
1. Dave Karner in an S2000
2. Tom Lepper in the Special Projects Integra
3. Some Guy in the Special Projects Civic
DNF Edik in Alaniz/Tecate (oil leak thru block)
DNF Derrick Stevens in the Hondata/Rubber Chicken (axle)
DNS Kiwi in the other SP Integra ('nuther oil leak)
When I left the track, Derrick was the only one of the three DNFs who said for sure he'd be running tomorrow (Sunday). Alaniz and Kiwi are both facing all-nighter engine drills for an appearance, but neither had yet decided NOT to be back. We'll see...
Tomorrow's race time is 10:40 (to accommodate Super Bowl viewing)

Here's mine. I think Stormy and I were standing near each other for a few of them in impound. The last few are of my friend Andrew in his Spec Miata. He was running really good, up to fourth, when his knee hit the key and turned off the motor. I think he ended up around 6th or 7th. Both H-Cup and SM were really good races.

I was at the Friday test day in my Showroom Stock Civic Si. I was hoping to see a few of you on the track. Maybe next time at Willow Springs.

and edik...what did you do to the car i was supposed to drive?!

Edik was NOT involved in an on course incident. Tom, was not Edik's fault. They are taking it apart to see what went wrong, but they think it may have been the "experimental" pistons they were trying. I got to see the video. It was under full power in 4th right after the bridge. Should be up and running very soon though I'm sure!
I don't think they will be running tomorrow and when I talked to Kiwi, they had no plans to swap the other engine in tonight.
Looks like it will be Karner, Lepper, and the buddy club civic tomorrow along with Varo in ITE!
I should mention that Varo wooped the viper in ITE as well as most of the comp!
