A friend of mine wants to purchase this LS/VTEC Block from a local guy, and to me it seems like a Good Deal...
Here's the Rundown:
'93 B18A block Freshly Bored .25over, Honed, and Hot Tanked.
NEW .25 over CTR Pistons pressed onto LS Rods (Stock Rod Bolts
)
New OEM Honda Rings in Box
Crankshaft
Main Caps
BRAND NEW ITR Oil pump in the plastic in Box - I checked Part Number on box, it matches up
LS Windage Tray, Pickup, and Oil Pan.....
No water Pump
Main Seal, but may need to be replaced...
No Bearings, and entire assembly is disassembled, was never assembled when brought back from Machine Shop.....
Everything is fresh from the Machine shop - Price is $500 Firm, but I think my friend can get it for $400 as the seller wants it sold....
NOTE: I also noticed that the pistons were NOT opened up to accomodate the LS Rods so I was concerned with what everyone always says, Grind like 1mm off each side of the piston to access rods... But the rods are on there with a little play on them, but not as much play as a normal PR3 rod and PR3 piston would have or PR4 rod/piston combo etc....
AnyWho.... Please give us your advice as my friend is eager to get this and start with a project...
I myself think it's a good deal, seeing as how the Oil Pump alone is $90 and the Machine Work alone is about $400 at LEAST....
So, that's not even counting the price of the pistons and rings and the Block itself....
Post your thoughts/opinions/advice
I think that's about it but I'll double check the thread....
Thanks,

This deal is ok...considering the pistons are new. Also, a waterpump should only run about $40-50 so it's not bad. No bearings + assembly...kinda sucks. I think you'll be getting a good deal...the seller is probably losing some money.

I don't mind the cost of assembly, because it's nothing new to me...
I already have one build under my belt and it was almost similar specs so, I'm not concerned with that....

Which ones are the proper ARPs to get for LS Rods?? They make an 8mm and 9mm size rod bolts.... I just don't remember which one is the proper for LS/VTEC setups...

I would buy it, the machine work shouldn't have cost more than $100, but its still a good buy, The ONLY thing I wouldn't do are the CTR pistons in that setup, but thats just me
