Some Pictures I took today around campus Advice appreciated
Give me tips for some better photos! I can't ever get them to look right

IMO they pictures don't seem very focused or detailed. They all also seem to have a slight blueish hue as iff the WB is off.
All pictures were shot on AV (apeture priority) with an ISO of 50 and a WB of Auto on a Canon G6. I used a smaller apeture for more depth of field and a larger for some of the closer up pictures. I also tried to follow the rule of 3. I still can't seem to get any awe inspiring pictures though.
Also, I was using a tripod.

Ever setting is fine. I actually know a fair amount about the camera and it's functions. I guess I just suck at photography. The distortion part bugs me though. Even with auto everything they come out that bad.

That's what I'm talkin about! Why are they not interesting?
And why do the pictures look so poor for a G6

Im pretty bored so ill try to provide some constructive criticism. Please don't take what i say to heart, as we all have different tastes.
1: I would like it if it were level, and no car on the road
2: Again, i think the cars are distracting (not like you could help it) and mabye it needs to be tilted a few degrees clockwise.
3: Not bad either, just a little crooked for my taste
4: Probably my fave
5: I think the sun interfered a little (lens flare, blown out fence)
6: I know this sounds weird, but it would be better if you were higher up.
7: Some more depth of field would make it more interesting (could be straighter, unless the building is built that way)
8: I like this one too
9: Focusing only on the icicles would look cooler
10: Nice pic, but a little too much sky (for my taste)
11: I like but i think it should be straightened.
I dont think the quality level is your fault, because wtdr is known for reducing it a little. If you have a "vivid" color setting on your cam, try using that to saturate the colors a little more. (most canon non-slr cams have that etting)

There is no focus. Besides the first picture, my eyes aren't drawn to anything. I feel lost looking at the photos.

Thanks for the tips. #11 I am still confused on. If you look carefully the camera was level. Apparently the building they're constructing is not? I'm gonna go have to take a look at this when I go to class on monday. #9 My goal was to focus on the icicles but I couldn't get it to happen. Would a larger apeture do this? #7 I agree with the angled portion but I was using the smallest apeture possible, is there any other way to get more DoF? Also, I was fighting with cars bad for the frie hydrant one I finally gave up
.
Good points though. I'll try and make sure my shots are more level for sure. I'll also try and find subjects with less distractions around.
One last question though. Why does the quality of my pictures look so bad? Everything was shot in Superfine on the largest MP setting. The only thing I could do for more quality is to shoot in RAW.

its the poor compositions that make it boring. and the only thing i can suggest is more practice. if you dont already take multiple pictures of one subject, try that. your bound to get one good shot, and you'll know when you get it too. the most interesting is by far #1 but its not level. keep working at it. pick up some photography mags and really anylize what makes a good composition. ffind a pic you like and ask yourself why is this pic in the mag and what elements make it so interesting? being close up to things also makes more interesting photos. don't be afraid to lay down or hang from a tree to get a good shot.
good luck and keep working atit.
