Default What year doors are interchangeable?

Can i take the door from a 85 Civic hatch and put it on my 90 model EF? The reason i ask is i was at a junkyard today and the guy who owns it claims that the only Civic hatch he has is an 85 and the door would not work on mine. The car in the yard looked a lot like the one i have which leads me to think that either it will fit or the car in the yard was not an '85. There's more to the story but thats the quick version.

and 85 will not work on a 90. thats 2 different chasis. You need to find a door from a 90-91 civic hatch. The 88-89 wont work either from what I have heard.
