blown head gasket... how much to fix??? and turbo seals gone?

like it says, how much am i looking at for a shop to fix my d series with a blown head gasket, or should i just buy a new motor, like a stock si motor. the motor i have now is a d16y5 with pistons and rods, boosted. if i get a new engine like a si motor and i want to run turbo do i have to do internals to it or will a stock motor support my turbo/??? any feedbak is ok
oh and the seals on my turbo are gone too i think(turbo smokes when car is running) how muich money???

i don't know about rebuilding the turbo, but i just did a headgasket on my d16a6, same exact job as the y5 pretty much. if you do the work yourself, its not too hard. go buy the gaskets (prices really vary, but if the one they hand you is a composite type, hand it back, as it is a pain to get off later, and tends to blow after 100k under normal driving. the composite one should cost like 40 bucks. then get the intake manifold and exhaust manifold gaskets, too, etc, pull the head off following the instructions(bolt order) and check the head if its warped. it might have to be ground, which should be ~40 bucks, this would also be a good time to consider changing timing belt/water pump if they havent been done recently.
an si engine will be (other than the headgasket, the y series headgaskets are better, 88-91's used the aforementioned composite one that shops try to sell you) stronger slightly than the newer motor because of the all steel girdle, but the rods are notoriously weak. you could run like 7 psi no problem on them reliably, but if you want more i'd go with stronger rods, dished pistons, and the better headgasket (vtec cylinder head, anyone?) then theres always stuff like sleeves and such. but you seem to want cheaper stuff
shop cost to fix- they'll probably make you rebuild your engine, because most people that go to shops drive too long on a blown head gasket. and they'll rape you cause its not the stock motor, too. expect to pay them anywhere from 900 to 2000. its not a hard job to do yourself, but pricey at a shop.
