Default Auto theft on the rise in Seattle

http://seattletimes.nwsource.c....html

Not a surprise, really. And I don't know if I buy the fact that more units will be assigned to combat auto theft.

Either way, as private citizens, I think if we suspect anyone or any group of people, we should report the info to police, and let them handle it. For starters, I think the cops should look into Trikspeed. I believe this is happening already.

Personally, I don't condone vigilantism.

You guys just see the think on King 5 News a few minutes ago? What a joke. Cop told the kid that he should have had a club...or an alarm. I really don't think they fully understand. Did you hear? Seattle is adding 4 car theft detectives this year. Great news for Krispy Kreme. JK

The only problem is that the story talkes about Kirlokowsky and the Seattle Police Department, a small drop in the bucket. Now if it was Dave Reichert and the King County Police Department who was in this story, I'd be a bit more optimistic. Reason I say this is Seattle, though a major city, is one of many cities that are in the King County jurisdiction. What needs to happen is that the King County police department, Snohomish police department, and the Pierce county police department need to start talking with one another. This would then pretty much cover the whole Western Washington area from Mount Vernon all the way down to Ft. Lewis.

Also what bothers me is that the Seattle police chief was quoted saying that he'll focus on the guys steeling the most. Who ******* cares? Weather it be one or ten cars the person who steels is enough grounds to get arrested anyways. So with that in mind it's as if he's saying that there's some magical quota that the **** has to steel before he becomes a target of interest which is complete bull **** to begin with. One car stolen is one car stolen right? Arrest the mother ******!

There has been numerous problems with the Seattle police chief and his lack of performance so I don't see anything happening any time soon there.

Aloha,
Brandon

dam, there were 9253 cars jacked in 2004 in seattle area alone!

that is 355 cars stolen every 2 weeks! how many of those thefts did people get charged with?

in king county, it's illegal to leave your car running. they're aware of it, but it's pretty low in priority.

The statistics show that there's only a ~2% increase in thefts... That's a pretty minimal percentage increase.

What I find more concerning is that they're not trending down. This indicates (to me) that it has not been a sufficiently-high priority with the cops...

I'm interested to see if the increase in cops assigned causes the number to decrease in '05.

Best thing to do is ensure that all of your cars/mods are insured.

lets all carry guns and if you ever see any stealing your car, shoot them. i bet that would make them think twice bout ever stealing cars again.

i want to get this chip that radars where your car is. i heard this on the news a while back when a seattle chop shop was busted. they jacked a civic si but the si had this secret chip and when it was reported stolen the police knew exactly where the car was.

its prolly lojack

http://www.lojack.com

when u report ur car stolen the cops can home in on a beacon that ur car emits... they way theives are getting around that is they steal the car then let it sit in a parking lot or somewhere and see if the cops pick it up or not

they even have a bounty hunter in mexico i heard so if u live in SD or anywher near the border it would be something to look into

NO

**** LOJACK

i personally know / have met 2 guys whose type r's have been stolen and never recovered with lo jack.......... one in san fran, one in PA

and to put that into perspective, i've only met 8 type r owners total from the US (we don't have lojack in canada).... so that's 25% of the people i've met in the states with type r's and lo jack have had their cars stolen and never recovered. HA HA HA.

i ain't trustin' that.

anyways, go to http://www.directed.com and under viper or clifford alarms check out the responder/ gps.... another alternative. integrates really well with a DEI alarm system and you can monitor your car by phone and online yourself too...

boomerang's the next one, it enjoys pretty good success in canada and has been introduced in california as well.

Answer me this riddle smart guy: How can one think twice when dead? In your case, if your that stupid to shoot someone over a car, you better make god damn sure you kill them so they cant testify against your stupid ***. I'm going to take a wild guess and say you have little to no experience with fire arms, and no, holding your daddies pistol like the guys on Boyz in the Hood doesn't count nor does shooting sodie-pop cans with your red rider.

This is why myself and other responsible people have to have thorough background checks done when we want to go buy/trade/sell another piece. Good work on not educating yourself.

For those of you who were born in a barn, and yes, like others have stated already.....your talking about that 'new-fangled invention' called Lojack.
