Which one to keep as a track car and why?
Thanks for the reinforcement. I think I'm going to keep my Honda and upgrade the BMW to e46 model for my gf.

road race or HPDE?
the BMW or the civic would be more appropriate if you are in fact going into road racing, i would expect..
all 3 sound like fun cars though..

having spent a good amount of track time in awd, fwd, and rwd, I would have to say the e36 would be the best track car for the long term, even if it is the heaviest with the least power. (and isnt the 325 closer to 3000 lb?)
just let me know if you sell the L

Yeah, I'm leaning towards BMW but the other 2 cars would be more flexible and tossable if I wanted to participate in any of the occasional auto-x's. Plus cheaper and wider selection of parts...

BMW's are doubly or triply expensive to track (at least, doing it right with a well-freshened car that stays fresh) compared to Honduhs just in general, and specifically in this case because even though it's going to be punishing the hell out of the front tires, a nearly 1000 lb weight advantage will take a big chunk of money out of what you need to spend week to week.

If the Subaru is reliable enough to be a daily driver I would keep that on the road since it snows in Chicago. Gut and cage the Civic for auto-x and track duty and sell the BMW to pay for tires, brake pads, and entry fees.
