Default Rota Subzero's 16"s 205/45 or 17"s 215/40???? PLEASE COMMENT!

Hey, thinking about buying the ROTA Subzeros in Gunmetal with the polished lip. I can't decide on getting 16s or 17s for my 96' GSR.

I like how the 16s look with 205/45 tires and they would be the best handling and also the more comfortable ride. I have seen a DC2 with 16" gunmtl/lip Grids and it didn't look very bad to me, but they did look to be a little small for the car. I do have a pic of a 2001 Silver GSR EXACTLY like mine that has 17" Subs with 205/40 tires and it looks really nice, but i am concerned with the ride on 40 series tires and also i don't want to damage any rims.
I will be lowering the car to 1.75" maximum with GC Coils and a SK2 camber kit.

The whole point of this topic is that i need some opinions and suggestions on the pros/cons of the 16*7" with 205/45 and the 17*7.5" with 205/40 or 215/40 or even those in 45 series. What do you guys think would look the best and be best suited to my situation. THXS

Go with 16s. They look so much better, and you get better performance from them.

the gun metal lip style only looks good on certain cars.

I would go w/ 17's. Better handling performance, not launch performance though. I'm pretty sure that 17's w/ a lower profile tire are going to handle better than the 16's w/ a 45 series. Now launching is a different story. Smaller wheel diameter= better start off the line.

On my old Corolla I had 17's that looked sweet, Tenzo Mean 6's. Handling and Launching

I'm going to say 16's. They look better, and tire sizes are cheaper.

I would say go for 16s. I already have a set of volk 17s with low pro tires 205/40/17. I hated driving and watching out for pot holes and such. Now with the current 16 I have 205/45/16 I just fly over pot holes and no rubs.

ya my car is a 96 GSR thats bone stock, i like how 17s look but ive also seen a lot of tegs on 16s with a 205/45 tire and they look awesome. I think i would probaly go with the 16s cause they give me more a more cofortable ride and more rim protection. I also think they will give me the most handling performace all around as well.

i like having 16's, i wouldn't go any larger, but that's my personal preference:

i have the 16 inch bronze subzeros and they are not very strong. my cheap *** rims have taken way harder hits that killed one of the subzeros.

Nice teg, you have any more pics? I think im gonna go with a 17" with 215/40 tire on my car. Looks nice and i can handle the slight noise/discomfort and pot hole watching. This is my teg now, bought it how it is.

I had 17's ... sold them and got 16's, I'm much happier and will never get anything bigger but again, that's just my preference. I find 16's more practical.

It also really depends on what kind of "look" your going for.

Go with the 16's if you are stock. If you plan on making some big number I would start to lean towards 17's

thxs, looks like a lot of votes for 16s. Its funny cause i knew that everyone on here would say 16s but almost all of my friends say 17s. I really like how the 17s look on that silver teg. I have pics of that car from cardomain and i think it looks awesome. The black one with 16s looks really nice too. As far as looks wise i would like to get a JDM Type R front end, but that is very pricey and i'm not sure if id like to do that on my car ( i have 167,000km ). I think the 17s would look best all around but i would have to scrifice some comfort, rim protection and launch grip. thxs for the help, keep the suggestions coming. Some more pics

You have any side shots of the car?? any, doesnt matter if there dark.

I think your car is persuading me towards 16s.Whered you get those H center caps?? How come your spokes stick out slightly more than the spokes on the silver teg with 17s? If they do at all then i think its because of the offsets, im pretty sure on jaydm the 17s have the stock offset of 45mm and the 16s either use 40 or 45mm i think. I'm guessing you have the 40mm offset?? I also like the rota slips in gunmetal with the polishd lip too, but i know all the **** id get for buying them and seeing everone else on here with them would be another downside.
