im just wondering which is better. Is fwd pulling the car..and rwd pushing the car? anyhow, i heard rwd is alot easier to handle during turns becuase the front tires have better "tractioN"..?

 

FWD (front wheel drive) is where the engine is directly turning the front wheels (more or less), where as RWD (rear wheel drive) is where the engine powers the back wheels with the use of a differential (a big boxy thing that changes the direction of the spinning so that the wheels spin in the direction that they do)

Its pretty hard to say which is 'better', a there are so many factors to take into consideration, where the engine is positioned in the car for example. Not to mention that FWD cars built nowadays have taken handling into consideration quite a fiar bit, and corrected a lot of mistakes that were made in the past...
However for the sake of argument, you could probably assume that a RWD car is going to handle a little better than a FWD.

Having said that, though, a AWD (all wheel drive) car is going to handle the best out of the lot... hehe, just listen to the Subaru ad "Symetry creates balance"

 

In the world of racing AWD, Drag racing RWD, Pulling boats out of a slippery ramp AWD, Drifting RWD, off roading AWD, Racing off a rolling start .... The same LOL.

The reason most people say that RWD is better around turns is because of oversteer. When entering a corner a FWD car will tend to understeer or loose traction and veer out of the turn. A RWD car on the other hand will OVER steer which means the back wheels will try and turn the car around. With that being said it is true that a RWD car will tend to spin out more in a long corner but with a decent driver oversteer can be controled and help turn the car
Just think... why are formula 1 cars RWD

All wheel drive is better off road and slick surfaces.

 

RWD cars definitely are capable of turning 'better', but they require more skill and are far less forgiving than FWD cars. In cars with FWD, it is much easier to cover up your mistakes.

You can stop understeer by simply lifting off the throttle. Correcting excessive oversteer is more complicated and can sometimes be very difficult.

I remember when by brother had an S2000 he would let me drive it from time to time. It was brilliant through the curves, but if you got overconfident and crossed a certain line, it would turn on you and try to kick out its *** end in the worst way.

not to hate, but this really belongs in GDD, the question really doesn't have any technical merit in the prelude forum seeing how preludes are fwd cars and the question didn't even address preludes at all.
