I cant believe my MOM said this!!! "Whats the little yellow light mean?"
Let me set the mood, Im in the kitchen with my gf and my mom. Were sitting there and shes loading the dishwasher and says to me, "Oh I meant to ask you...whats that little yellow flashing light in your car?"...
She says this while motioning her hand like she was in the car touching in the area of the pillar.
At this time my gf just falls on the floor laughing. My gf looks up and says "Your moms redlining the R....HILARIOUS!" "You aint got nothing on your mom, she's all about VTEC"
My mom was referring to my shift light on my monster (rice) tach.
I must say it was funny...my mom was just smiling away having no clue what it was for...hell for a second I thought my gf had put her up to say it....but no...my mom was just having fun in the car.
I had taken my moms Legend to work to be detailed, so I left my car at home for her to drive if she needed to...she knows how much I love the car and she knows to park it in the last parking space where ever she goes...all the little things to keep it safe and door ding free. My mom was the one who actually taught me had to drive a 5 speed in her 1990 Accord 4 door. Before that she had a few VW Jettas, all 5 speeds...so shes knows how to drive them.
I just thought it was funny and I would share. Wonder what people think when they see my little ole mom, sitting REAL close to the steering wheel-shes only like 5'2", driving the R...lol.

Haha. Funny story. My mom is the complete opposite. VTEC... HA! She;s lucky to hit 4k rpm, and I'm not joking. I don't think she ever shifts into 5th gear either cause she doesn't like "trying to find it." At least she babies the car. The weirdest thing about it is that she really can drive stick. She did for years. I think its cause the "car is too loud" and it scares her.

lol.....my mom takes my R up to 6k rpm in first and shifted to 4 right after and then fifth...this was when i didn't know that skipping gears wont hurt much. i was scared.
Hehe...reminds me of my dad telling me about a couple of stoplight encounters he had when he borrowed my car a couple of times. Let's just say he saw three different guys on seperate occasions drop their jaws at the next corresponding lights.
The only way he could describe the cars was that they were some nice, old, loud domestic vehicles.

My mother got in a car wreck about 2 yrs ago. At the time I had two cars..
93 DX hatch w/ B18C5, Spoon cams, DC header, etc. like 189/15 @ the wheels
88 CRX w/ high compression B18C5
The CRX was all stripped and had a Lexan sunroof so I told her to drive my Civic.
She sported that for like three days. She LOVED it. She said it was so fast.. but the only complaint was "the ride is bumpy, real uncomfortable"
The funniest thing was, I came home for lunch one day from work, and I was about 100 yards from turning into my subdivision, and I see my mother peel out, nail 2nd, nail 3rd and ride out 4th in the opposite direction.
I couldn't ing believe it. I mean, she fell out of VTEC in 2nd and 3rd.. but at least she was having fun.

I'd be pissed as hell if someone kept making the 'yellow' light come on all the time. Next thing you know, she'll be asking, "What does it mean when the needle on the left won't go past the number 8 very far? I push the pedal all the way down but it just doesn't go very far past the 8?" You gotta wonder if she bounced off the rev limiter a few times.
Congrats on having cool Moms !
Women who drive manual
Women who drive it well
Women who drive stick and race
I found one of these rare beauties. A friend of mine who I am thinking of making a girlfriend (hopefully) said she knew how to drive stick. I said show me. Nothing is better than sitting in the passenger seat, in your ITR and watching a beautiful woman drive stick very well. Oh, and she wants to autocross. I am DEFINITELY in LOVE.

Ha! My Mom can't even drive a stick! She also hates how I put all my money into the car, I dunno... My Dad is the only other person who EVER gets to drive the car.

i even taught her on my 99 si a few months after i got it brand new. she actually drives 5 speed better than "all" my friends (i tell her that its because i taught her
) i've been with her for over two years and it still turns me on when she drives hard.. i never admit it to her though.... i thought about it ... but nah, she'll see the post anyway.
my mom is the opposite.....today she wakes me up at 7am i had just gone to bed and says your dome light is on so ill turn it off and see if the battery is dead.....so she comes back in and says it wont start so im like .....my step dad had the jumper cables...so i had to call the acura road side assitance........after i get off the phone and start to think (since im still half asleep) i ask he did she push in the clutch to start it......she says " i didnt know you had too" so i go out and the car starts and then i had to call the acura road service and tell them i got it started....oh well atleast she told me light was on cuz it may not of started by time i got up
Way to go Mom!
My mom drove my car one time and I'm sure she was never even close to VTEC. She can drive stick better than all of the guys I have let drive my car.

Thats funny, when im in my car, i go past 3500 rpm and my mom goes "Mike, shift your winding your gears out to far!"
Mike, that is funny. My mom get's equally nervous, she's not used to hearing the engine I guess.
I think that Austin can testify (and others that know me and my family) that they are as crazy of drivers as I am.
My mom takes the M3 and races people with it on the streets. I usually get a call from a friend or someone telling me that my mom just rev'd on them and tried racing them. Rev limiter? Yeah she's best friends with it.
I let her drive my car one time to see how she would do. Lets just say no traction 1-3rd gear with the glove box flying open, etc...
My dad however is the worst. He always tries to race me in his cars. Let last weekened at Laguna he tried messing with me with his 911 3.6 turbo!!!! LoL, I have him a nice taste of 9000+rpms! ahahaha
My whole family is a horrible influence with racing and driving! Which is probally the reason why we have only stick cars (since auto's are banned from the family) and only high performance cars are allowed to be driven.
However I will say they hate my car. They think its WAY too loud and it attracts way to many cops. Also they don't like the feeling of front wheel drive with that much power.

Heh, my mom is usually a pretty low key driver...but now and again i'll talk to her and she'll have a kill story, which is hilarious coming from my mom...my fav. example
Mom: "The other day i was at a light and a civic with some really big wheels and a wing that was much bigger than yours came up to me and started revving his engine."
Me: "Yeah, we call that rice, it means a car that's got lots of crap on it that's supposed to look fast, but really, it's just for show and usually slows it down."
Mom: "Well, whatever the case, I blew his doors off."

Good stories guys...seems there is more then a few cool driving moms out there.
SoCalITR: I hear ya about your mom saying you spend way too much money on the car. My mom still does that. When I first started out with my 92 GS-R I talk about it all the time...how bad i wanted one cause they were so fast etc etc...then I got it and started modding it...my mom would ask "if its so fast then why do you need to spend money on parts to make it faster?...you're going to kill yourself"
But now she knows its just part of me and doesnt really care...as long as im safe.
My dad on the other hand always asks me if he can drive it...when people come over the house he's always telling them about it and the videos i have from track days...hes always trying to sneak my keys out and take them on test drives....sneaky bastard!
And my dad always tries to race me in it with his Harley. Its kinda funny on saturday mornings when we both leave the house at the same time...we have a competition on whos vehicle is louder...ill start revving on him then he'll crank up the Harley (both vehicles are in the garage), then it just starts getting loud in there...my mom will run out in the garage and yell at us...its pretty funny...my dad is just a big ole kid like me! gotta love 'em!
