Default For Those who have played with CATS...(Catalytic Convertor)

1994 Integra DB8 (4 door GSR)
Original OBD-1 Motor
Stock Exhaust
DC Headers

The question is: Will a Catalytic Convertor from a 1998 Integra Type R bolt right up into this car? Or, are there differences in length, width, and positioning of mounting holes?

i bet you $1 or more it will bolt right up. reason being is manifolds are a certain length and exhausts are a certain length, and you can mix and match as long as you don't mix a gs-r header/exhaust into the mix. so if those can be played with, the cat length must be constant. but why would you want an ITR cat? is it bigger? not likely.

Sure it might bolt up, but being an OBD1 car it doesnt have a 2nd 02 sensor, so the cat will have a hole about the size of a quarter when you put it on, and it will be loud.

Also they changed the exhausts slightly, some have the header B-pipe flange at a different angle and thus it might not bolt up.

I'll give you $1 if you dont assume dumb crap again.

it will not bolt up without modification because they are different lengths. 94-99 gsr's had shorter cats (~13") than all other integras (~17"), including type r's.

This is mentioned occasionally, but I haven't seen any evidence of it, and it doesn't logically make sense. The '94-'99 GS-R has a B-pipe that is roughly 4" longer than other Integras. However, it also has an exhaust manifold (A-pipe) that is roughly 4" shorter than other Integras. Because of this, the cat lengths for all Integras, including the '94-'99 GS-R should be the same -- approximately 17.5".
