#394 in the dip =(
i live in melbourne australia and 2 nights ago it rained none stop for 31hours with a total of 120mm of rain! biggest storm for a long time!
as you can imagine that's alot of water, our river (the yarra) over flowed as well as many other places and river water filled the streets as well as the sewer system not being able to keep up with the huge amount of water, trees fell house collasped... you get the idea.
i was driving to work in the worst conditions already 5 am, when i ran into a intersection full our water, roughly 15meters x 20 meters since i drive that way all the time i guess it was about knee deep.
i've got a mugen intake and knowing about the way it's design i decided no way would i make it to the other side, so i turn around and went through a one way street where i was horning at and bad mouthed at, LOL that was expected.
Anyhow i got to a set of lights where cars from everywhere was bottle necked into, and as the lights went green i followed this 4 wheel drive down the main street which was blacked out,(so i really couldn't see **** cause there weren't any street lights as well as of all the cars especially the damn 4 wheel drive)
Out of no where water covered my windscreen, through the water i saw brakes light come on so i braked as well, when the water cleared i was bout knee deep in water already
i saw alot of cars who stalled already, i knew i was in very deep **** and i needed to get out, so i keep going, slowly i felt the car lose power, and i was almost out of the water, i was really hoping i would make it out! about 15 metres to the surfaced road and out of the water the car stalled...
AAAAAAAAAAAAARrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i tried to start her and i couldn't even here the starter motor, just lights came on.
i waited 2 mins and tried again and it still didn't start and at this point i knew it was all over. i opened the door and luckly the water level was just under it and couldn't get in, however all the stupid cars that were trying to get through cause the water to wave into the car
i closed the door quickly and pushed the car to safety where i got here towed to my mechanic
looking back the water i went through was about 30 meters by 30 meters (our casino carpark was flood) and deepest park was about just over the knee. i was actually lucky cause some cars was drowned.
the amazing thing is when day light broke and people could actually see the flooded intersection they still tried to run the the damn thing
?????
some made it, some stalled.
fingers crossed hopefully it was just the distribitor got wet, i praying nothin got in to the combustion camber (hydro lock?)
at least the recaro's were still dry
so no pics i was i lost my mob as well
good thing is im probably in the papers today
insurance does cover water damage, if it hydro locked would that be considered a total lost?

Whenever in doubt. Turn the car off and sit there in the highest possible place u can see. Either that or don't tail so close behind the person in front of you. If you were further back you would have seen him hit the water and could have avoided it. Good luck with it.

I'd be more afraid of the internal engine harness as water makes that **** rust and makes all your connections go bad
yeah i know but u can image from a standing position and turn right straight away and hitting the water almost as soon as you turn it was pretty hard considering there were no streets lights and my beams i got PIAA they look bright from the outside but they don't light up the road just the reflectors
Many times when u suck in water the cylinders fill up with water and when the piston tries to compress the water it can't and then ur connecting rods snap under the pressure causing all kinds of bad stuff to happen. Your motor could be toast.

thx for da cheery comments!
thank the lord only the smallest amount of water got in, nothing going to rust break or anything!!!
only that the exhaust sounds a bit funny at the moment more like a lawn mover than before (i got a twin loop, it sounded sweet
)
i think the filter elements of the cat and resonater and muffler got to dry out more maybe?
