O2 Sensor Install in D15. How Hard is it to do?
First off let me say I know **** about sensors and electronics. When ever I had a problem with them there was always someone around who knew what to do. So I just did something else when that was going on. Im the body work guy, not the electrical guy.
Anyways Im poor. I can get enough money to get the new O2 sensor but there is no chance in hell Im going to pay some shop $100 to install it for me. Anyone can give me a write up on how to do it? I know I could figure it out myself but I dont want to screw anything up by just messing around with it.
Im getting like 8MPG with what I got now and check engine lights out the wazoo for it.
Thanks

Isn't the o2 sensor on the side of the exhaust manifold in front of the motor on D15? If that is the case your going to have to unplug the sensor first, oh yeah make sure the motor is cold. Spray some lubricant on the threads. I believe its a 21mm or you could use an adjustable wrench, but they suck. I could of sworn its bitch to get to though, like the angle. Other people will comment..............

The sensor is right on the front of the engine. I can get at it no problem.

all you have to do is pop a 22mm wrench on there, remove. REplace with new one, and attach it to the wire. Its a 1 wire o2 sensor, they are the simplest they get. Also reset the ecu by removing the ECU & HAZARD fuses from the underhood fusebox for 30 second. Replace fuses, and start car. Allow car to idle for 10 minutes to generate basemap. Thats all folks
Ok at lunch today I went out and popped my hood. I looked at the sensor and it all looked ok. Then I looked at the wire and the white hosing had melted down to the wire in one spot. The wire seems fine underneath. It looks like the extra protective layer is the only thing that is gone. Could this be causing my sensor problems? I moved the wire away from any heat source it could touch. Hopefully that is the problem.
