if you were talking about stock suspensions, then you will need a spring compressor and to compress the spring down. Aftermarket, usually just bolts on in w/out needing compressor, coil-over also
it's a long process you should refer to manual.

go out and buy a nice helms or even a crap repair manual and follow the step by step instructions that has pictures provided. If you are asking a question like this, you probably have little to no automotive mechanical experience. Which is fine, we all start somewhere.... get a manual... and eventually you won't need it.

what's wrong with your trailing arms? http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org has decent prices - CHEAPER than acura dealer's. i bought rear lower control arms there because the bolts for the rear shocks were rusted and bound inside the bushings so i just had the whole thing cut out. be prepared for that issue if your car is more than 3 yrs old and you live in area where there's salt on the roads in the winter. you can also try to get the arms at a junk yard for even cheaper. also if your car meets the above conditions, be prepared for rusted and seized nuts that hold the pillow ball mount (metal flange thing that holds the spring on the upper end of the shocks and attaches to the car's body) to the shock. many ppl will tell you that PB blaster took care of their rust problem, but it's NOT guaranteed. good luck!
I can vouch for the manual advice. I bought one for my car. Trust him and me when you will eventually not need the manual for anything. ANother note, many aftermarket parts come with instructions too.
