Default Free carpet cleaning? WA owners look out?

So Rofl Copter and i are working on his ITR fixing a camber problem.. I have both of my garage doors open for light. Well we both walk inside to wash our hands really quickly when the door bell rings. A man in his mid 20s is standing there and trys to tell me som really confusing **** about a citation or something. Well he goes on to tell me that i have earned a free carpet cleaning and he says he wants to come in and take a look at my carpet.. i keep telling him my carpet is fine and blah blah but he insists and keeps trying to come in... He then asks Yuri if thats his type r.. he says ya and the guy goes and talks about some ITR he used to own... I'm reading the papers he gave me.. They were suppose to be for his business but it looked like he printed them out on word and just wrote them up in a hurry.. He had no van or anything and was wearing like Banana Republic.. he also said he drives a dinan supercharger new m3.. and i am thinking why do you work for this company if you drive that... I then told him to leave and that my parents weren't here so he couldn't come in.. He said he would be back in 10 minutes or so... i Told him alright... Well we call the number and we asked them if they had a commercial location i could check out.. and the guy on the phone said they have no commercial location.. I looked out the window and saw no car.. he just walked off and passed up all the other houses.. my house was the only one he stopped at and gave this free carpet crap to.... This sounds very like the Audi story not too long ago.. where those guys wanted to steal his audi s4... That was in tacoma and that is where i live.. WA ppl... be careful

F*cking unbelievable! What the hell has happened to this place?

WA is now the "ITR theft / scumbag car thief" capital of the world.

Dinan doesn't make a blower for the E46 ///M3 He's a scammer. When he wouldn't leave your property you and your buddy should have held him there while one of you called the cops. Sounds very shady to me

i should read the whole thread before i post. i would def. be on the look out now tho.

protect your car the only way:
1) cut 1 hole 2'x1'x1' holes under where you park your caR in your garage/driveway.
2) Cover with pieces of rebar 3" apart shaped like: [ (rotate 90 degrees right).
3) Cement rebar into place (do not put cement in center of hole, just around sides to keep it in place).
4) Buy a fat *** chain and a huge lock.
5) Wrap chain around bottom of headers/bpipe and lock it.

And I thought SoCal was bad...looks like WA is getting bad. I have a friend with a RSX-S in Seattle that already had an attempted break-in.

you guys need to be suspicious about anyone coming up to your front door. if he kept insisting to come in, i would've gotten pissed and told him i'd be back with a bat or something. also, leaving the car out in the garage really quickly while washing your hands? instead of this dude ringing the doorbell, he could have gone to town on the car and bolted if possible. i used to be careless, but with all the type R's missing in WA, don't risk anything. i'd start lying and saying it isn't a type r too. yuri knows better.

yea.. i donno if stalling a guy while cops came would be a good idea, what would they do?... chase him to his car, grab the plates, who knows... esp if there were 2 of you this is dirty business... i think washington needs to start a bait car program!!!!!!!!! this is getting way out of hand.

more than likely they were "kirby" vacuum cleaner salesperson. they use that line alot, " you have won a free carpet cleaning" once inside they show you how wonderful the vacuum cleaner is, and push hard to sell it to you. they have no local comercial office cause thats how they sell their crap., through door to door. and they move from town to town.

I'm sorry but that has to be the dumbest place to put a chain,
so the person stealing your car has no clue that he's about to rip off the exhaust tosses it reverse slams the gas and BANG!!! there is a ton of damage.

If you want to lock it up out with the chain out of sight then use the frame rail or something solid that won't give.

Bellingham is still a great place to live!

*knocks on wood....

it's too diverse down in Seattle/Tacoma these days and it's sad to say, thats when things go bad. I grew up in LA and it's the same way

toronto's HELLA diverse and i'm careful with my car, but it's not a problem like it is in seattle, and it's much more multicultural there.

i can see what you're saying though. i think that + apathy from local law enforcement leads to it.

IMO there is no correlation between diversity and theft. Just look at the meth-labs in white-only middle america and the theft associated with their tweaker clients.

I have a theory that car theft is an issue wherever people are more focused on b.s. like speeding tickets instead of stopping real crime. Like Seattle.

i disagree

there is. it's not a direct correlation, ie you are not white therefore you are a criminal. but there are a lot of groups that are not welcome in their own countries and come here, bringing their problems with them.

getting off topic a little. But I lived in Spokane for awhile....mecca of meth labs. Mountain bikes were CINSTANTLY stolen in area where meth was made . Whatever's available to steal, will be stolen. In a place like Seattle, you have a WIDE range of culter and people, all with different tastes. Exotics to imports...which makes it really easy for someone to find anything they;re looking for. And with the huge asian population, that makes for a LOT of Hondas rollin around. A lot of Hondas to be stolen by anyone...russians, mexicans, whoever

Pehaps I should restate myself and assert that "correlation != causation". In other words, crime comes with many situations and any race.

I have an inherent desire to avoid stereotyping and I'm concerned that associating an increase in ethnic diversity is a way to stereotype that different racial groups are causing crime.

I don't think that's what you're saying, however. (particularly given our conversation offline on the subject)

As soon as you noticed all these shady tactics, you should have told this ******* to get off your property or have called the cops... these thieves are getting so brave as to come to your face!!!
